Saban is targeting the best players which fit his system and he has a need for. Period.

Exactly. Everything to him is a process. He’s doesn’t target a recruit because it hurts LSU. He does it because it helps his program. He doesn’t worry about what other teams do. LSU fans like to say stuff like “he knows LSU is a threat” because it makes some feel better that he has beaten us 10 out of 11 times. That’s correct: 10 of 11. We’re not keeping him up at night.

LSU let the glorious Skip Bertman run saban off.

I take it that you were not an adult back in December of 2004. Anyone who was, and followed LSU football, knows you are wrong.

Nothing new. He has been doing it since day one as head coach at Buma.

Yep. I said this about 3 years ago & got lambasted for it. I can't really blame the guy, though. It's actually the smart thing to do from his perspective.

I understand it makes you feel special to think he hates only LSU, but he does this to everybody. He was never in love with you. Get over it.

You guys are all missing the target here. It’s really not complicated at all if you look at the situation logically.

Saban does target LSU, but it isn’t because of any love or hate. It’s because we’re a divisional threat if we get all of the top LA talent. Combine that with his success and his long-running connections in this state, and you get a particular focus on top LA talent. He knows we depend on LA players and he can get them if we’re down. It’s a win-win for him any time he pulls one we are fighting him for.

Saban hit LA hard in our last transition year for the 2017 class. That was no accident or coincidence. He saw an opening and struck, and that wasn’t even as difficult of a transition as this has been. No portal. No ESD, which gave O more time to try and rally on some guys. But it was still brutal considering how much those players have contributed to their recent success.

With the more difficult situation this year and so little time before ESD, Saban really cleaned up. I think things will turn around next year and Kelly could have the proverbial wall back up in two if he handles his business properly on and off the field. But what’s going on right now should be no mystery to anyone who’s paying attention.

Smart move by an experienced coach (Saban) running an advanced program. Louisiana has more football talent per capita than any other state in the country. So are you just going to wait until LSU gets a new coach and staff installed before you compete against them? Hell no. You strike while the guards are changing. His program did exactly what they should have done. Raid the state while LSU is scrambling to get a new coach installed. Can't blame them or be mad at them. Remember that we are not building for one season. This kind of movement is to be expected. Just give it a little time. We will forget about all this in time once Kelly gets all the pieces in place. There's still time to build on this class by February and next year will be very different. If Kelly is worth the money, a wall will go back up around the state and stealing talent will be a lot more difficult task. It's a process. Sometimes just a little painful. It will all be worth it in the end.
