There was no coup. Alleva is the boss. There were parameters established before the season. one could surmise that Alleva already knew Miles wasnt going to change and gave him enough rope to hang himself, which Miles did.

The players were obviously frustrated. How could they not be? 21 points per game is frustrating. We regressed.

Alleva didnt need to "ambush" Miles. He not only had the right, he had the responsibility to shite can Miles. Thankfully he did and ended this nighmare.

the scouts know talent when they see it, if they have hopes in drafting a prospect they just keep their fingers crossed that the kid won't get hurt slogging their way through a poor system, Miles didn't cost any draftees any money

I'm not arguing your point, I'll just add that there is an expectation of development at the collegiate level - and if there is little to no development it can hurt their draft stock.

does anyone get any kind of feeling of sadness from the players or coaches who remained on staff? Everyone is just kind of like "it's a business"

They said what they needed to immediately after the dismissal (social media, quick interviews outside of Football Operations Bldg) but then as the dust settled the ones who were really "broken up about it" were walk on type guys who feel Les gave them a shot. The other guys who all said it's business have realized since the day they stepped on campus the offense was NOT what was promised on their recruiting visits, so hence the "its business" and "we're going to go play our butts off for Coach O"
