I think Ronald Martin will play more of a Brandon Taylor type role and Corey Thompson will step into Eric Reid's spot

Actually I believe the number of TDs he gave up was 4 according to someone in the thread. That's not more than a few. I agree he had a down year compared to what he did in 2011 and the preseason hype he had coming into the year. But, he still had better #s last season than he did in 2011 and better than Mark Barron did his final year at Alabama and he was a top 10 pick.

Haha what? I see it the complete opposite. Martin is a true FS that can cover, while Thompson is a down hill run supporter.

I meant more in the since that Martin would be the veteran coming into his own ala Brandon Taylor and the youngster (Thompson) steps up

wouldnt be hard - think Reid was way overrated. Slow, out of position alot and killed us a few times taking bad angles.

i agree. im a die hard LSU fan but i think Reid was a LITTLE overrated. He took horrible angles like you said. He had his shining moments but overall was average in my opinion. Kinda slow too. I'd be surprised if he runs a sub 4.6 at the combine.

Well I guess Eric Reid is the 1st 2x All American that was just average.

The way I look at it is who would you rather have on our team than Reid? The only other 2 safety's in the nation that are on his level are Matt Elam for UF and that Vaccarro guy from UT. UT had a horrible season so couldn't give him the All American. Elam was the best S in the country this past year. I can say that truthfully. But Reid was right behind him.

Reid and Mingo were awesome last year. And by awesome, I mean terrible.

yep
RM needs to work on his tackling though. that's where reid is far and away the better player. And Reid has a better football knowledge

give martin that, and I also think he's gonna be a special player
