I believe that Alabama is better than OSU so I think they should get in over them.
Based on what? Common opponents? There were none. The closest was A&M versus Arkansas and their conferences 7th/8th best team took the SEC's 3rd best team to the limit.
Do you also want to ignore the fact that despite playing a 9 game conference schedule, they have 9 bowl eligible teams? All but one is going.
Keep whining though against legitimate arguments as is expected from Gumps.

Surprised no one has mentioned this yet!!! In 2006, Michigan played Ohio State in the 1st "Game of the Century".. Michigan lost to Ohio State, and all the talking heads declared that Michigan deserved a rematch.. They stayed number 2 in the polls also. Michigan didn't play the week of the SEC Championship, but the Florida Gators did. People were going nuts saying that the Gator's didn't deserve to play for the Championship. As we all know, Florida put a "beat down" on the Buckeyes after Ted Ginn's opening kickoff return!!! I'm not saying that Oklahoma State is better than Alabama. I personally feel like Bama is the 2nd best team. My question is this. If Florida had not been given the opportunity to play Ohio State would we really know who the best team was in 2006??? As far as I'm conerned, Bama had their chance, and Oklahoma State has by far the more impressive resume with a win over Oklahoma. I personally would put any 1 loss team or Houston over Bama, because THEY HAD THEIR CHANCE!!!!!

I've got to give it to the Gumps, they are working overtime on the call-in sports radio shows. Overtime, bigtime.

I hope OSU wins on Saturday because that meltdown is going to be epic.

Painful to read. Could he force any more similes into a sentence? He's even more painful to watch on espn.

So do I. That Gump from this thread ran pretty quick when I pointed out the flaw in his logic.

As with most of Reilly's articles, it's written largely for entertainment purposes. But, his analysis of OSU is correct. Believing that Bama is better is an opinion and, since the two play in different conferences with no common opponents and won't face off in a bowl, proving that is difficult. OSU's strength of schedule and record against both Top 25 teams and teams with winning records is about the best comparisons we can make. Bama loses the argument.

I agreed with him about Bama being undeserving of playing in the NC. But that was about it. And Hightower welcoming the week of rest..... WTF??? That whole situation defies any of idea of fairness and logic.

Of all the articles I have read regarding this issue his was the briefest to the point while addressing other schools who should be considered and why. I liked the article.

Rick Reilly made sense, and used facts. OSU still needs to take care of business before things heat up.
I think Bama would win an OSU/Bama game, but on paper- OSU has the better credentials.
I think the meltdown will be Biblical if Bama gets jumped...and I am looking forward to it.
