If the LSU money people don't figure out the NIL stuff it doesn't matter who is recruiting the kids. We are losing out on the big fish out of HS and in the portal bc of NIL period.

But they were La kids. Who cares if they can play. They wanted to come home and learn from the worst staff of position coached in the country.
He needs to get over the home kid crap in the transfer portal. Save that for the top HS talent. His recruiting is going to kill this program unless his hires do it first.

Syracuse transfer was a freshman AA, Southeastern transfer was an AA, Oregon St was an all conference player and A&M transfer was a mid season AA.

Bama's starting safety transferred from UAB and the first CB off the bench is from ULL.

All of those players were very good at their prior school.

And who else is going to get? You can’t just go around and pluck the starting DBs from places like Bama, Georgia etc. they aren’t leaving.

But he also got Denver Harris to transfer here. He looked like a future star as a freshman at aTm. Convenient that leave that one out.

You act like Oregon St is some D2 team or something. They won 10 games last year and we took their 1st team all Pac 12 LB. It's easy to say that now after a few games but absolutely everyone was stoked when the transfer happened and for good reason.

He’s also been hurt. He haven’t seen what he can do healthy and at full speed.

I personally think Brian Kelly was too caught up in bringing in "Louisiana Players".

We did really well (esp on defense) with La players in the '22 portal. See Greg Brooks, JBC and Garner for examples.

The coaching staff needs to pull a full class of talented playmakers. The tranfer portal should only be a backup option for a few holes/depth.

Kelly has said as much, but the reality of where the roster was when he arrived and just the reality of CFB today with transfers, teams are gonna have to use the portal. I think we've done pretty well with it, on the whole.

Now developing the HS recruits we do get, especially on defense, that's another story.

You shouldn't be looking for starters in the damn portal. Other teams like Florida State signed quality transfers from quality programs, we should've been going after the same guys, not Louisiana Tech guys.

As others have noted, we have literally gone after about 4 of the guys FSU got and lost out. 2 of their most notable ones Jared Verse (Albany) and Fiske (Western Michigan) were from small schools.
