Our coversation:
quote:

I said: Arkansas is not a third-world SEC team.

You Said: they were in 2008. do you realize how little talent nutt left that team?

quote:
I said: This myth that LSU has soooo much more talent doesn't pan out if you look at the record these last couple of years.

You said:

I'll say one more time: the myth of LSU having overwhelming talent does not pan out. If 3rd world, talent-poor, coach-challenged Arky can beat uber-talented LSU 2 out of the last 3 years, then there are only 3 possible conclusions.
1. LSU's reputation for having so much more talent than everybody else (like Arky) is a myth.
2. LSU's got the talent, but the talent is lazy, unmotivated, or chronic underachievers.
3. LSU's coaching is deficient compared to Nutt/Petrino, in a random rolling blackout from season to season, game to game: defense to special teams to offense to time management.

Otherwise I am at a loss to explain how ultra-talented LSU could post two seasons like we did in 08 and 09, and lose 2 out of 3 to lowly, untalented Arky/Nutt/Petrino.

If Petrino came to LSU in '05...he would've eventually scratched the NFL itch.

Like someone said earlier....he's Saban a-hole x 2 with half the ability to coach.

Oh I must have been unclear. I in no way want Petrino at LSU. I lived in KY while he was at UL. Not a nice guy. I am glad he didn't come here. Of course what do I know; back then when we were looking I wanted Rich Rodriguez. Haha.

i never understood why we cared <coaches leaving for the pros>

if we're sending coaching to the NFL, we'll get the best of the best when our search opens up

I didn't let all the Saban to the NFL talk bother me. He was here for 5 years, he left the program in great shape. But I think it was pretty obvious that Petrino was going to leave for the NFL soon. Petrino would not have been her for 5 years. LSU didn't want to keep playing musical coaches.

i've heard petrino made a joke about hebrews, not knowing skip was jewish

First I've heard of this. If true, all I can say is that Petrino is such a dumbarse.

I've heard the interview went really badly and Skip came out with a strong dislike for him.
