I'm sure it's been discussed at some point, but the fact that we're 104th nationally and last in the SEC in red zone defense, doesn't make a whole lot of sense considering how we look between the 20's.

Without having watched all of the replays, I'm wondering if anyone knows what we're generally running in these situations? Man to man is no good with such a short field.

FWIW, there have been only 12 trips to the RZ by our opponents...7 TD's. 4 FG's. 1 stop.

It looks bad because of garbage time play.

Are you trying to make the correlation that being bad in the red zone is going to lose us games?

We're Top 5 nationally in scoring defense.

Are you really this stupid?

Are you really that stupid to conclude I'm trying to make that correlation? Read the post...the point I make is that our RZ stats don't correlate to everything else we've done defensively.

Well we actually give up less points per drive than many of the other schools on that list and we only give up 0.5 more points per red zone drive than Alabama.

So it's really not as bad as it seems.

Your right, although I'd like to see us get a few more stops whenever our opponent does reach the RZ...even though it's not that often.

That stat is inflated because our opponents never get to the red zone against our 1st team D but because we've been scoring so big and putting in 2nd and 3rd stringers on D our opponents have put together scoring drives throughout the last 5 minutes of a few of the games we have played.

I'm with you, it would be great if we could stop them more often but at least 2 of those 7 TDs we've given up have come in the closing minutes of a game. But since we can't take those TDs away from the stats, we are still only allowing teams to score TDs 58% of the time. It's not great but it's not horrible. By contrast, Alabama gives up TDs 57% of the time.
