I think your assessment is on target.

If state doesn't throw a pick 6 and give up a punt return for a td we are talking about something different. You can't count if's.

I don't think a wild long snap and two botched holds will happen every game.
Neither will a +4 turnover ratio and a punt return for a touchdown.
quote:
If not for those freak mishaps we wouldn't even be having this conversation.
Those "freak mishaps", like Mississippi State's FOUR first-half turnovers (and its botched FG hold, too--news flash, it was raining and wet and this shite happens), are simply part of the game. No, those specific problems might not happen every game (although we've snapped the ball over the punter's head deep in our own territory in half our games so far), but it wasn't always the same thing that went wrong in every game last year, either. Just as a good team finds different ways to win different games, so does a bad team find different ways to lose them, like we did last year. One or two games, it's because we have no defense (Florida, Ole Miss). Then, it might be interceptions and no defense (Georgia). Another week, it might be a stupid personal foul penalty (Arkansas). Yet another week, it's interceptions and poor play calling (Alabama).
You think nobody would be concerned about racking up barely 200 yards of offense (while giving up over 300) against Mississippi State? We absolutely WOULD be having this conversation, even without those particular plays.
quote:
Those were directly attributed to a 11 point swing.
So, give us 4 more (34) and State 7 less, actually 9 since we probably would not have taken the safety at the end (17), and you have a lackluster win in which we were physically manhandled and only happened to win because the opponent turned the ball over four times in the first half and we returned a punt for a TD. And this is against a team that got waxed by Auburn 49-24. That's Auburn, a team that isn't very good this year. Not Alabama. Not Ole Miss. Not Florida, Georgia, etc. Auburn. Shitty Auburn that everybody penciled in as a win before the season started.
Both Mississippi State and Vanderbilt had multiple opportunities on short passes where the receiver had a mile and a half of open field ahead of him. Fortunately, the Vanderbilt and Mississippi State quarterbacks and receivers aren't good enough to consistently execute a 10-foot pass and catch. Georgia, Florida, Auburn, Alabama, Ole Miss and Arkansas quarterbacks and receivers are much better.

Ahhh. The old standyby. Attack the ones who disagree with you. One step closer to becoming a ranter

Nothing in your post required a thoughtful reply.

There's no valid reply to his comments, which are absolutely dead-on accurate, so you really had no choice, did you?

I'm actually a little dumber for having read it.

I'm not sure that's even possible.
Did you just E-Knight him? I sure do think so........

Your post however, was not well thought out at all. It just repeated the same shite that's been posted on here for the last year and a half.
His argument was, in large part, a response to the constant "we're 4-0" mantra. The same one that was going around last year when we looked like crap for the first four games while beating terrible teams. If they are going to keep floating that concept a year later, then the same response that was valid a year ago is valid now.

There are lots of measuring sticks for our program. Some are Feel good, like recruiting, getting good coaches, or won/loss records. On the other hand we have reality: how can a team be rated 4th in the country when they have the 105th offense and 49th defense in the country. This is where the heart-ache comes in to play.

Miles cleaned house after the season bringing in a whole new set of coaching and there is some improvement mostly on the defense but most of the knowledgable LSU fans are seeing a repeat of last year and we are not happy beating bad teams by small margins and showing no improvement from week to week.
This is laughable at best. I love LSU football, but, sadly, the majority of LSU fans, or at least the ones on here, don't know much about football at all.

Couldn't he have found another thread to interject his thoughts into instead of starting another thread? That's the issue here. There are a delectable number of choices below this thread where he can commiserate.
I don't think anyone on here is happy with our performances this year, but the bottom line is that we are 4-0. The next 2 weeks will tell us a lot about where we are. Let's wait and see before we abandon hope all ye who enter the rant.

Because teams that you think should be rated higher have lost. We haven't put it all together, but we have won the games. Some teams have looked better but have lost. That win means more in the polls at the end of the day.
