RB position will be a wide open competition

There is no one you can really pencil in as the starter. Murphy coming off of knee surgergy is a question mark. Ridley got some prime time playing time this past season, looked good, but really didn't do anything that guarantees him the starting position. Ford has a hugh opportunity to make the spot his if he lives up to his high school billing. If not Ford then Spencer Ware, who reports say has looked great in all star game practices, could be the man. Miles even mentioned Domingue Allen in the mix at TB. Should be interesting spring camp.

Ridley 60%
Murphy 30%
All the rest 10%
Most likely will happen barring injury IMO

Murphy is getting #18 and Miles was quoted that he thought two springs ago Murphy was the best back. He will be the starter.

Even with a 100% healthy knee I don't know if Murphy can beat out Ford if Ford is as good as expected

Ford was a true freshman last year with Scott and Williams on the roster, two of the better all time LSU running backs. There are no clear and overwelming favorites for the position going into 2010 like there was going into 2009

I would like to think so, but I don't think it will happen. Probably Ridley and Murph will carry the bulk of the load.

We haven't seen Ford play in a college footbal game yet. It will be interesting to see how he rises to the the occasion next season.

as they probably should unless Ford/Ware are clearly better backs.

Uh, no. Ridley and Murphy, both of whom are nothing special, will get nearly all the carries next year despite possibly more talented underclassmen being behind them. It's the Les Miles way. Our running game will be much worse next year with these 2 guys. It is going to take 3 losses before Leslie gives one of the freshman backs any significant playing time.

i think Ford could be a stud. I hope he gets a legit shot.

Shepard?
I like Shepard but there is a reason why some schools, such as Texas, weren't recruiting him. It's just going to take some time for him to develop at whatever position he winds up at. He is kind of at the level Holiday was when he first joined the team. An explosive player who is going to take some time to physically mature into a top SEC calibre football player.

Just throw the freakin ball to him on allthose damn slip screens or run teh short side option with HIM, he'll do better than all others once the ball is in his hands in the open field

It's ok to use more than one back. If you use them to their skill sets. Keeps guys more fresh and less chance of serious injury.
