So you can intentionally walk in college baseball without actually throwing a pitch?

I've never even heard of that. So the coach just tells the ump we want to walk the batter and it's done?

Yes he just holds up 4 fingers to the umpire. The major leagues started it last year and college adopted it this year.

That's how it works. I hate it, but the powers that be cherish those 15 seconds it saves I suppose.

And after the intentional walk there a meeting on the mound to discuss the next batter or change pitcher or the batter talks strategy with the coach. Nothing really saved.

Wow. I was wondering what was going on. I thought they were calling balks for some reason. Thanks for the info.

There's a lot than can happen with those pitch outs. To me it's just taking away from the game. Anyway, thanks for the info.

I couldn't agree more. I hate that new rule more than I can put into words. I realize that it's a softer throw, but it's also taking 4 pitches off the pitch count. IMO it's really cheating the game all the way around.
