So who do y’all think will start or at least be a starter in certain packages?

To be clear, im talking about incoming freshman and incoming transfers.
Not just transfers

The freshman starters will be few and far between. I don’t know that there’s much of a chance for a freshman to start. If we do have a freshman that starts, it would probably be Harold Perkins , correct?

It’s impossible to know what freshman or freshmen may be able to contribute this year , until they get here and show what they have and how big or small they are. Perkins just looks the part in his film already. He’s a bit small but he’s just so fast and hits so hard , his body fat is non existent and I think he’s good enough to see the field early.one good off season program may be enough to transform him into a beast, especially if they didn’t have much of a workout program in high school.

ETA: I would have said will Cambell as well, but with the transfers we got, I just don’t see him starting or being the first backup this season

As far as transfers, we know that our best linemen will be the incoming transfers , most likely. This isn’t getting an undersized Liam shanahan as a transfer from Harvard. The linemen we got were being perused by multiple big time schools and they were all graded out as the top o line transfers. Both tackles were the top 2 tackles available ,I’m pretty sure. I know one was number 1 but don’t know where shorts was ranked, I know it was high though.

The dbs and safteys we got will all be called upon to either start or come in as an extra db.
It’s hard to keep up with all of them to be honest.
Besides jay ward and sage ryan, our secondary is mostly gonna be new guys.
The, all big 12 conference ,db we got from okie state will start.
I’m guessing on the other corner when I say it’s an open competition between the guy from Arkansas (Greg brooks), pig cage, and the new transfer from ull (mekhi garner) . I’m sure brooks is the favorite though, by a good margin.

I’m guessing joe foucha will play saftey with jay ward , in those extra db packages or somewhere.
Who knows, they may move ward back to corner unless he gets bigger this off season but that’s pretty far fetched but worth mentioning.

I wanted to add a couple more questions for potential debate.

What are y’all expecting with all the damn linebackers we have, out of nowhere All of the sudden. Lol
The portal is crazy man, we got more linebackers than we will be able to use this year and before the portal moves , we didn’t have much of a clue what we would look like there.

I forgot who all came back, so it’s even crazier for me lol
I know Clark’s gone and I think I heard Baskerville has a year to play.

So who is it gonna be? Is Perkins gonna have a shot, like I asked above? Then you have Baskerville who should have the upper hand. We got the weeks guy, from Virginia. We have the guy from South Carolina.isn’t Jared small still eligible? Then you have the guys like sampah and white who are getting kind of later in their college eligibility age.
We got d tolen still , unless someone hit the portal, that’s a bunch of mlbs .

Sampah has got to be bad at practice or something, him and Phillip webb at olb have never been able to get on the field , even when we were horrid at lb . What’s up with those guys?

Who do y’all see playing the most at mlb and I’d appreciate y’all’s opinions especially on the transfer linebackers. I haven’t watched tape on them .

One more thing, what do y’all think the coaches and the evaluators are expecting out of kyren Lacey this season?
Wr2 maybe wr 3 or 4?
I’m guessing 2 or 3

ETA : I didn’t upvote myself.
I swear

It's hard to project true freshman playing, especially on defense. It depends on how good a system they played in and how well they take to coaching to fit in to our system.

Many top rated defensive players struggle to play early on because in high school they just went for the ball and didn't play a true position. Recently we have had Beckwith and Jacoby Stevens, that struggled early on for this reason, but once they learned to play in a system, they were very good players.

I wouldn’t look much into the decision making of Coach O. These two guys could still be really good linebackers. I’ll wait to see how CBK handles these two players before I make an opinion about them.

This may not be relevant (if you were specifically focused on offense/defense), but it sounded like CBK's expectation is that the most athletic players, regardless of seniority, will have opportunities to immediately contribute on special teams. Enjoyed hearing that.
