In 2001 Miles took over and did what any new coach would do, stuck with the starting Junior Aso Pogi. As the season progressed it was clear that Pogi was struggling offensively and Les kept him as the starter. Pogi finished the season with 1854 yards on 179 attempts and 11 TD's leading the Cowboys to a 4-7 record. Comparatively Anthony Jennings finished the season with 1611 yards on 227 attempts and 11 TD's and an 8-5 record.

Les stick with the wrong QB? Never...

Miles is too hard headed. Why isnt he smarter?
Posted on 1/3/15 at 5:21 pm to jivy26
So what did he do the next season?
Posted on 1/3/15 at 5:25 pm to philly444
10 years here And hasn't recruited or developed 1 yet

Why don't you show the other option he had?
Josh Fields, Freshman:
35/69, 50.7%, 451 yds, 3 TD, 3 Int
Looks like he actually went with the better option in my opinion.

Pogi was injured throughout the season so that is the only reason you saw Fields playing. Look at his stats when we had a full season to start.

So he stuck with Pogi? so the frick what? what makes you think there were any better options?

for the record, he didnt start him as a senior. Josh Fields was the QB, and they beat defending NC Oklahoma

Never said he started as a senior. Saying that after Pogi got hurt and Fields started the 2012 season because of Pogi's injury, he was clearly the future. Fields started all 2012 and 2013 season.

SO - 13 games, 55.4 percent, 7.7 yards per pass, 31 TDs, 10 INTs
JR - 13 games, 54.4 percent, 7.4 yards per pass, 21 TDs, 12 INTs
after that he was the 18th pick in the first round of the MLB draft
edit: here are the stats for Clint Chef, who was at OKSt for 4 years, under QB guru Mike Gundy, and started his jr and sr year
2012 - JR - 60.4 percent, 15 TDs, 6 INTs
2013 - SR - 56.4 percent, 17 TDs, 8 INTs
this year JR Daxx Garman began as the starter
54.9 percent, 12 TDs, 12 INTs

I think we are trying to debate the same thing lol. I agree Fields was great when he started. My point was that it took Les having no other option to start an inexperienced qb. That start ended up working out for him.
If you read the link I think you will understand. I didn't want to post the entire blog and take up the entire damned screen lol.
Completely unrelated meat wad ftw

Then he sucks, but we went through a season and knew half-way through what we had with AJ. Unfortunately we dont really know what we have with BH so it is all speculation :|

It's funny how people love the backup when they don't know if he sucks worse or not. Like, man, I think Danny White is better than Staubach. Or, Flynn is better than Rogers. Or, I sure wish Joe Biden would be President.
you ain't at practice. Harris sucks or he would be starting. Maybe, a year of learning will help. A strong arm and a weak mind leads to trouble -- Jeff George, Jay Cutler, Aaron Brooks.

Oh yea. No doubt. The beauty of sports, besides gambling, is speculation. But, speculating on a freshman with mental issues being a starter for an SEC team is not something that can go un-commented on. Not many freshman, even those with the mental fortitude to play the position, could come in and contribute.
No doubt, the dude has a great arm. He can air-mail it, but has yet to determine how to get the right address.

Yes indeed and I think when Les started him mid season he should have just kept him as the starter. Did he look horrid in Auburn, of course. But the two games leading up to it, one including Miss State he looked good.
This is BH stats note the red. AJ struggled against...new mexico state. Bh played a much better game. In the Auburn game putting AJ in, while he looked much more composed, did nothing to spark the offense anymore then he has all season.
Regardless AJ isn't our future and I am not 100% on BH being our future, however we have seen a full season of AJ and a small sampling of BH.

Right, so after being a Freshman that saw some playing time he had a pretty good Sophomore season. Even though he didn't have as much playing time as a Freshman, perhaps we'll get to see this sort of season from Harris next year. Yes, some Freshman can come in and do well immediately but that is more the exception than the rule. Perhaps Harris just wasn't ready this year and Miles/Cameron knew it so they kept him out rather than ruining his confidence like what happened to JLee in 2008.
I don't know if that's the case or not. I hope it is.
