The things that keep us from being top tier are still there,
1. No consistent play- see 2nd half
2. Lack of discipline - penalties, fumbles, missed extra point
3. HC still talking to his best buddy on the sideline- who knows what they talk about!!
4. 3 questionable reviews from the booth and a HC who does not react-

I could go on but nothing has really changed. Yes, other teams have these problems but not championship teams.

We will always be this unless a top tier change is made at the HC level

Concerning the defense, I thought Tolliver II had a subpar game. Missed tackles and out of position on his coverages a lot last night. Hopefully, it was just an off-night for him.

If LSU has found a QB, and the only loss is in week1, then this team is still in it. I think guarded optimism is appropriate.
