Count me as a Tech fan. Sure is fun watching your boys play—glad we're not meeting up in a bowl this year!
Thanks....and I am pretty sure we are glad we are not meeting you guys in a bowl either!

Interesting thing to remember is that many so-called Tiger fans were sure that GT would blow out the Tigers last year. I've watched Tech quite a bit and do think they are better than last year. Flip side of that is the LSU offense has struggled to find consistancy this year but the defense this year is much improved over last year. I think it would be a fun game to watch after a month of preparation again. Too bad it can't happen. Good luck to the 'Jackets the rest of the way.

Good luck to Ga Tech in the Orange. Your most likely opponents are TCU, Cincinati, Boise St. or Pittsburgh.

I would like to see Boise St. get to the Orange to meet your Yellow Jackets--good luck.

GT's offense had one bad game against Miami this year where they were only able to get 228 total yards.

Was that great defense on Miami's part, or was GT just having a bad day?

Interesting dymamic that game. We played 3 games in 12 days while Miami had 10 days rest. The game in Miami was shuffled in for ESPN Thursday night tv money. We were simply leg-tired and did not execute well at all...and Miami was on their A game. That is life. ACC's commissioner John Swofford is somewhat of an idiot when it comes to looking out for his conference's perception in the national media...SEC does a much better job of this.

We also shelved the 4-2-5 defense after that game as we lost two safeties early and it made for a disaster where our offense had very few possessions. Things have gone a lot better since moving back to our conventional 4-3...to stay this time.

I don't know about that. GT's defense had trouble containing Vanderbilt's offnese in the first half of their game.

After GA TECH defeated VA TECH the local sports talk station 790 The Zone was talking to Coach Paul Johnson. They were asking him how does he keep the YELLOW JACKETS up after a "big" win. Paul Johnson replied by saying, "I tell my team three things: L-S-U".

don't get me wrong...no one at GT will claim the defense to be a strength. Very young...only one senior. Fortunately PJ has become more involved with the defense since the Miami game...and at halftime for adjustments...Wommack has done pretty well also.

You mention Vandy...we gave up 28 in the first half...but only 3 in the second.

Matter of fact, over the past 4 games we have given up 61 first half points...and only 13 second half points.

This is also due to Nesbitt becoming increasingly comfortable with reads and learning how to recognize a C-stunt from a cross charge from a mesh charge, etc.

Also...we only run the triple option about 10-15 times per game out of 65 plays...we are throwing more, more draws/sprint draws, misdirections, midline option...and ISO's.

You are correct though...we are a middle of the road defense (54th in the nation in scoring defense). Fortunately, our offense scores on about 90% of its second half possessions...that helps a lot.

I was born in 1968...so I have only seen film. Great guy, amazing athlete (2nd in Heisman voting in 1964)...ended up being a punter in the NFL due to health issues as I understand it.
