I'm really excited for this one. If we can win in that environment, I think we might be turning the corner.

This. Bama is gonna put the heat on us in that zone. We've got to continue to have good ball movement like the Vandy and Mizzou games and be smart with the ball, take high percentage shots, etc.

Bama is going to slow the pace down. They're going to play tough D. And they're going to do their best to make it a boring game. When LSU has lost recently to them, it's because Bama's post guys have had unexpectedly good games. LSU cannot let that happen tomorrow.
No one else's offense is efficient against them, and I don't expect LSU's to be either. Against the zone, LSU has shown a tendency to settle for the 3 this year. History has shown that will likely happen again this game. With that being the case, I think Stringer and Coleman are going to have to be huge. If they are ice cold from deep, I'm afraid that this will be another loss in Coleman.

bama is a good team, they just struggle to score. we historically struggle there and it should be a tightly officiated game, i'll take a W any way we can get it.

Can't really argue with any of this. I feel confident we won't allow any of their post guys to go off. We just can't have silly turnovers and have to take advantage of ANY holes we find in the zone. JOB will be the x-factor in this one IMO, as he is every game. His positioning and ability to kick it out of doubles will be huge. I'd also like to see Shavon knock down a couple 3's, as you said, to keep them honest.

hopefully we have a st. joe's kind of shooting night from behind the arc and still have the mental fortitude to get the ball inside when the opportunity arises. if mickey keeps hitting that FT line jumper it is going to help a ton.

It's amazing how quickly he's become a pretty polished scorer.

This. Not necessarily a must-win, but it would be a huge win.

yea, i'd actually like to see us play a little zone, though i don't really trust us to do so just yet.

Watching last night, Alabama was allowing post players to get the ball at the FT line. The guards were pressing onto the ball handler at around 24 feet out. In a zone, that leaves a lot of room around the shoulder. If LSU is able to attack from there, we could get some space inside.

Similar to triple option offense in football, I don't think you can just "play zone sometimes" in basketball. For teams who don't use it constantly, the players lose alot of their excitement and become stagnant. Plus we have struggled to rebound out of the zone the few times we've tried it.
If we practiced zone all the time, I think length could make it really good, but seeing that we don't run it a lot, it tends to be less productive than man to man. IMO.

we played some of the worst zone i've ever seen under trent, when we played it at times last year it just wasn't good either. even our man defense needs work containing the dribble penetration at the point of attack but it's what we are best suited for.

We at least know the zone tendancies because of tue zonepress. So I dont think they are all that far behund in the 8 ball if they wanted to do it.
On our man d I wish the post would figjt for position more. I get frustrated when we do a full stand behind and just let them catch ball.
Wouod love to see at least a 1/4 front to make take away easy entry and if they lob it mickey or job can get some nice helpside steals. Our big men get in tught spots by not playimg defense until they already start on block

When Darcy get's in he fights for front position every time. I love it. He looks mean as hell down there.

I thought we'd see Darcy on Tuesday with the foul trouble we were in :(

We may see some Darcy in this one. Bama has a 7'1" center who we may try to muscle up to. That would be fun to watch.
