Thing I couldn't understand is how he left the RB's with the feeling of " ...am I going to get to play ??? " He used it to motivate the backs to compete against one another, but I think he simply got the players to dislike him. Miles played off that uncomfortabley. Think of all the positions... was there any uncertainty who would play ??? All but the RB's. Produced uncertainity and undue pressure at a postion where you want confidence and positive attitude.

True, but everything else being equal, it helps to have leadership skills.

And there's also a way that you can have those leadership skills and not have to be the drill seargant a-hole and/or play games with the players threatening to not play them in order to get your point across to the players. I agree.

We have had a thousand yard rusher the last two years. This year we replace a 360 lb OG with a 275 lb OG and the lack of production in the running game is Porter's fault? There was an article earlier in the year where Scott and an OL talk about the changes in the running game this year. There were changes in the types of plays and the blocking schemes. Scott said he preferred running out of the I and thought we would get back to that.

Porter was one of the best recruiters in the country, so it is a fact that he had to have some relationship with the athletes.

There are so many assumptions and guesses in this thread that it adds nothing to what the problem is, if there is one.

It's one thing to a accomodate someone you're trying to recruit, tell him waht he wants to hear, but once you sign him up you don't have to be nice to him anymore.
