Miles, Dietzel, Saban, McClendon, Arnsparger. You have to put the guys that won the NC ahead of the rest imo. Some are bad memories that are not worthy of mention.

You guys make me laugh. Saban came in when you were down, built a team from scratch that beat everybody and won a NC. He left and took over at Bama and took a down team to 12-0 in two years. Do any of you really think Les Miles could have done those two things?

Not in a billion years.

at anyone saying Les is tied with or, God forbid, ahead of Nick Saban. Wear your purple and gold glasses all you want, but c'mon, that's just silly.

Tidetoit,
You better go check the NFL rosters, and see how many players made the NFL from Saban's first team.

It's an insult to Miles who averages 10.3 Wins per season.

You were born in 1987. Do you feel qualified to talk about "Armsberger"? Cholly Mac? Was your Dad even born when Paul Dietzel was coaching LSU?

Many people talk about how Miles won the NC last year with Sabans' players.

Why do we never hear how Saban won the NC with Dinardos' players and went 12-0 with Shulas' players?

just curious

3. Edited to add: He probably also missed the #2 class Saban had in 2004 and certainly missed Saban's 2001 class that was ranked by some services as #1

Not a band wagon fan... Just young :)

But seriously this class has potential to be the best class LSU has ever had. Its looking like we're probably going to end up with SIX 5*. Only person who recruits like that is Carrol

I'm still amazed that some of you truly believe that he's a better coach. Nick brought our program into the spotlight. The fact that he was able to pull in some of the guys in 2001 is a big reason why we were so successful. He won two SEC titles, a national title, and loaded the program with talent after the #2 and #1 recruiting classes in the nation in 03 and 04. Les took over this program with all that talent and held serve. If you really think saying 10.3 wins is the reason Les is the better coach, then you're fricking retarded for not looking at the circumstances surrounding those wins.

Saban brought LSU to the top of college football, and after two short years, he has a better record with an Alabama team that was run into the ground by Shula than ANY Les Miles' team that was loaded and poised for greatness thanks to Saban.

Les isn't a horrible coach, but anyone who objectively (that means someone who doesn't just side with the guy at LSU with everything) thinks Les is a better coach than Saban has serious issues.

I said this in an earlier thread, but people have this imaginary Nick Saban in there head. They believe he can't be out coached or out recruited all the while its consistently happening. EX: ULM

No one is saying he's perfect, but seriously, Les isn't even in his ballpark. Hell, Les isn't really even a freakin coach. He just hires assistants to do all the work for him. He could never take over the offense or defense and run it successfully, whereas Saban could with D and Meyer could with O.

And ULM almost happened to LSU this year against Troy. Only reason it didn't is because LSU this year had a shitload of talent compared to Bama last year.

Point out anywhere in my post where I said Miles is a better coach because I personally think Saban is a better coach. I just feel the gap isn't as big as most think. You made my point for me with the Miles almost losing to Troy statement. Troy is a much better team than ULM, but thats not the point. The point is if Miles would have lost to Troy many people on this site would have come on here and said , "Saban would have never let that happen, he never loses to weaker teams", and so on and so on even though Saban lost to inferior teams while he was at LSU. People create this fake Saban in their minds and it blinds them to his obvious flaws.

Point out where I accused you of it.

They both suck. Troy is a decent program for their school size, but they still suck. If there's a "much better" for any two teams, it's LSU and Bama.

LSU fans ragged Saban for the ULM loss, so I don't know why you'd think that.
