We are a nostalic fan base have to agree. No doubt LSU has been dominant this decade. I just think PSU has the advantages in this game. To say LSU will blow out PSU is not realistic. Close game.
PSU has only beaten 1 ranked team in the top 10 on the road since 99. Ohio State in 2008 (13-6 win).

Well jesus fricking christ - BEAT US. It's not like it isn't decided on the football field annually or something.

Are you serious? You can't be. Please tell me you're joking.
Are you too stupid to realize we "carry the conference" because you guys (and the rest of the conference) can't beat us?

- Humiliating blowout loses to Florida and LSU
In the National Championship Game, after beating you guys by 22 and 20 each of those years, respectively.
And that loss you guys had against USC last year was pretty embarassing, as well.
quote:
not to mention losses to Texas
Wow, we lost to the #3 team in the country in the last minute.
quote:
mighty South Carolina....twice.
In 2000 and 2001, our worst part of the decade, we did lose to USCe in the Outback twice. PSU did outdo us then, playing in the... oh wait, Penn State didn't even make a bowl either of those years.

-Is an osu fan really bragging about BCS appearances???? I figured even bucknuts would be embarrassed to bring up BCS. Win over mighty Kansas State and ND (but frankly- who hasn't beaten overrated ND in bowls the past 15 years or so).
Dude, your ONE BCS bowl win EVER was against a team that finished with FOUR LOSSES. Kansas State, before playing us, beat previously thought to be unbeatable and NCG participant Oklahoma by 28 in the Big 12 title game. ND finished 9-3 (after the loss to us), still better than the FSU team that is the only one you're able to hang your hat on.
quote:
Yeah you beat Miami when the officials gifted you the win at the end. Frankly should have been another L.
Oh, you mean the game where we were screwed by the officials, due to an absolutely terrible call with two minutes left that prevented us from running out the clock and forced us to punt (leading Miami to tie it and force OT)?
quote:
You nicely include PSU's worst 5 years in the history of the school in your selective stats. Lets go back to '93 or so since PSU joined the small minded B11-
PSU 9-3 in bowls
osu 6-8 in bowls
I included this decade, since it's the only thing even close to relevant today. You want to go back to 93, then you might as well include the entire history of both schools. And since you joined the conference:
Penn St's record vs Ohio State:
6-11
Big 10 Championships since Penn State joined:
PSU- 3
OSU- 9
quote:
Then they go to sites like this and trash PSU.
Really? I'm pretty sure it wasn't me who started this, but rather a PSU fan, by saying "we're not the Big 10. We're not Ohio State".
quote:
You'd think a fan base that hasn't EVER (in the history of their self proclaimed greatness) beaten an SEC team would lay low on SEC boards.......
FWIW, we have beaten the SEC. I believe we're something like 7-11 against them. We just haven't beaten them in a bowl.
But maybe if we'd been playing in the Outback or Cap One in the years we played in the NCG (like you guys did) we might have a win.

Let's look at some facts:
1) LSU has as athletic as a defense of OSU, and moreso than Iowa. Patrick Peterson is gonna drag his nuts all over Clark's face all game.
2) Clark is a grossly overrated QB. In big games he disappears. The only "Big Game" he's played well in is when USC was up 31-7 last year and threw two TDs in the 4th quarter. Too bad he wasn't around for the first 3.
3) Penn St's defense is pretty pedestrian, but is able to shut out the Michigan States of the world. Congrats. Your line play is overrated, and that's where LSU will win the game.
First of all, you obviously don't understand a concept as simple as the definition of "fact." What you listed here are opinions. I'll do my best to address your "opinions."
1. Athletic? Absolutely. Better coached? Ehhh. Not so sure. Statistically, (these are what are known as facts) LSU has a worse defense than Iowa and Ohio State. Perhaps the LSU defense isn't as good as the Iowa or Ohio State defenses.
2. As you would expect from all QB's, they tend to struggle more when facing talented defenses than lesser talented defenses. Arguably the 4 worst games that Jordan Jefferson played this year came against top 35 pass defenses. Coincidence?
3. LSU's lines are pretty pedestrian, but are pretty good against the Auburns of the world. See how we can both play that game?

Yeah, I will say I think it's a pretty good matchup. Both teams are similar that both teams have taken care of business against teams they're supposed to and lost to top teams they played.

Go ask Ohio State fans what they think will happen, since they have actually played upper level SEC competition and not the Tennessee's of the SEC you keep bringing up.
And what on earth makes you think WE are upper level SEC competition instead of the Tennessees that they have played in the past?
We're a 9-3 SEC team that lost to everybody we played who was better than 7-5. We're not that special any more. Riding on Bama's and Florida's coattails, or even our own from years past, won't get us anywhere.
