Chavis put Ryan Karl on Early Doucet in the last few seconds in 06 in Knoxville..Had two time outs and didn't use them...BTW Ryan Karl was an OLB who was from a small private school in Nashville and was the SLOWEST lb we had..And he was covering Early Doucet?

I think the more telling comparison is the 2007 SEC championship.

We won on a late pick 6 by Zenon, but both defenses held each other in check for the most part. They gave up similar passing yards. The only telling stats where Chavis gave up 212 rushing yards (remember they had Mayo and Berry). Whereas Pellini gave up 97. Chavis gave up 10-20 3rd downs conversions, to Pelini's 4-13 3rd down conversions. I think Chavis was an upgrade from Malveto, but a slight downgrade from Pelini.

Do we get to play an option team every week with zero passing attack?

Pelini's body of work is unquestionable, IMO. Any DC can have a bad, or in Malveto's case, good game.

This was a situation thing with our offense putting them in this coverage. You don't call this. You live with it if you have too.

pretty much any time the other team posed a passing threat Pelini's defenses were average at best. He blitzed the hell out of cupcakes and Sean GLennon QBed teams to pad the overall stats but he was amazingly overrated as LSU DC.
