Also, the defense finally bought into the system being taught by the coaching staff.
This statement lays the blame for our defensive woes this year squarley on the shoulders of the players, as opposed to our departed co-dc's. I would assume this isn't the common thinking...

You left out the part about GT's offense being about the most one demensional there can be!

Defense played hard.
GT can't pass and is a one-dimension team.

The answer I come up with is a lack of confusion. GT being a very one-dimensional team allowed LSU's D to focus on just a few defensive schemes. Without Malleveto calling in wrong formations, or calling them in late. The D was actually ready by the time the ball was snapped. It sure was nice not having half the defense looking at the sideline with a "what the hell am I supposed to do face" while the ball was being snapped.

None of the above.
Ric Flair is correct. Miles brought in a consultant, Larry Lacewell, to establish the game plan.

That's all it took? Hard to believe, but

Miles did what he had to do to make sure we won that game. At least he recognized the problem and corrected it.

Before us, Gardner Webb had held them to the fewest points, 10.

When Rohan Davey came into the game off the bench, to replace someone, the team was energized and rolled. The defense queue on this and also played much better. This is one of the reasons LSU played so well with J. Jefferson playing QB. That being said, QB Lee someone said on the RANT was maybe 70% of the time 4 downs and punt. I knew in the Ala. game that GB Lee was not going to move the ball in overtime and LSU was not going to win the game.
Yea, go ahead and throw JL under the bus yet again and blame all the bad that happened this season on him. Your argument is so off base. In fact, the proof is in the Arkansas game: if all it took was for JJ to be the QB to solve this team's problems, then we should have easily beaten a pathetic Arkansas team. The fact is that the defense let Arkansas score on their opening drive and went on to give up a 30-14 lead in the 2d half. That shows the solution wasn't simply having JJ at QB (though surely no pick 6s helped, but you don't know that with a month of preparation that JL wouldn't have done just as good of job managing the game).
Put simply, things finally clicked for this team, and having time to prepare and get healthy certainly helped big time. Having someone steady and sure at QB - whoever it might have been - certainly helped in that regard as well, but to say it was because it was JJ in particular is overlooking the fact the defense couldn't stop anyone throughout the whole season, even with Hatch as starter, and even with JJ as starter. In fact, the defense couldn't even stop Troy for the first 3 quarters. The 4th Q of the Troy game shows that having steady QB play - whoever it is by - does help as the defense played a lot better once the offense started clicking in the 4th Q as well.
For the bowl game, all the pieces finally came together.

That QB was terrible all year. Give the defense SOME credit for stopping the option.Geez

F) Once we got a big lead, thanks to a combination of our opening drive and our ability to capitalize on their incredibly inept special teams play, they were toast. Their one-dimensional run offense was never going to get them back in the game against our run defense. They had to try to pass, which they couldn't. So it just got worse and worse for them. Our defense played its best (or maybe second best, after 'Bama) game of the year.

Hmmm I watched the whole game and I think it was a total team effort.
I think the offense scoring first and not turning the ball over took a lot of pressure off the defense. When LSU was scoring over and over it started to turn GT's offense to predictable and one dimensional.
But hats off to the run defense. They definitely shut down the triple option. Hands down the best defensive performance Ive seen since the NC game.

A tiny bit of A, a little more of B, a touch of D, and a heaping helping of "E) Georgia Tech can't throw the ball for shite".
