Some people always have to find a better way to do something or gripe. Lets be happy that a town is excited about their hero. Hopefully Devery is a hero that our inner city children without much can look up to as a role model. How many times have we heard of Devery in jail, trouble, being fined, etc? Lets hope that our players and young future stars look up to him and use him as a benchmark for success in sports and life! Way to go Devery!

I grew up with Devery here in Opelousas...We played football together at OHS and graduated together. He is a class act all the way. Congrats to him and his hard work, because it paid off.

Personally, I think naming streets ought to go to someone who is deceased. Devery is a great kid, but I think rushing to name a street after him is not such a good idea. Look at Billy Cannon. It wasn't but a few years ago that he totally embarassed himself, his family and LSU nation. I'm not saying something like that would happen to Devery, but that is why you wait and name streets, buildings, etc after a lifetime of achievement, not just for a good season.
So who cares. Opelousas is doing the politically correct thing. Honor your hero while he's on top.
Congrats to Devery. He has become quite the go to guy in the Saints offense. He played a huge role in the Saints march to the Superbowl. Besides he's an LSU Tiger through and through.
