Same argument that people used to make for keeping Charlie Mac. Mack Brown, Mark Richt, Phil Fulmer, fall into the same category. Too good to fire, but rarely produce championships. Good enough if second place suits you.

I admit it..I would accept a National Championship every 7 years. If that is underachieving then I'm all for it...

The offense has top ten talent, but bottom third performance.

Did you miss the part about all the injuries, not to mention the WRs aren't top 10 talent by any measure. I have never seen a group of receivers miss more catchable balls. I, for one, am in the camp that believes the offense would be looking a lot different if the receivers weren't killing so many drives with the dropsies! It's not just the drops on 3rd downs, but drops on other downs affect the play calling and put the team in bad down and distance situations.

The Tigers got a taste of their own medicine at Florida losing both the TOP and field position battle only for the defense to be worn out by the end of the game (or Minter being sidelined for a bit). Throw in the strip of the ball from ODB and it's exactly what the Tigers were doing to others last year. Doesn't mean it's the end of the world (season) nor does it mean that Miles' offensive philosophy isn't any good. Eighteen straight regular season wins says otherwise.

You know, the most excruciatingly hilarious part about all this is

I remember fans calling in to the local sports talk saying the exact same things about a guy named Nick Saban in 2002 after Texas drubbed us 35-20 in the Cotton Bowl to cap an 8-5 season.

Too bad few others do.
