4.1 yards per carry is a great average. That’s not the issue if that is true. I thought it was more like 3.1 yards/ carry
But if you didn’t listen to Brian Kelly’s response before the beginning of the year about the offensive line you should’ve. He was asked directly is this was the best offensive line he has coached in his career and his answer was clear that the Notre Dame line that he had was better. It was also very clear that he wasn’t confident in the offensive line. He coach speak. He also has made numerous comments about the inability to run screen passes. That has a lot to do with the offensive line. Is it all coaching? I don’t know because frankly in the three seasons, your point about Daniels being the running game is absolutely true. When plays breakdown and your offensive line is really good at keeping others out of the backfield a running quarterback with his dynamic ability is going to gain a lot of yards. They are good at blocking for the most part until Dellinger went out. Chester is a new starter. And more importantly is the most difficult position to play on the offensive line because he hast to be the quarterback of that line. It’s especially important when you have a new quarterback like Nussmeier.
