In 1936 capacity was more than doubled to 46,000 when the north end zone was enclosed with a 24,000-seat addition. Money was not allocated in the state budget for the seating expansion, but money was allocated for dormitories. To bypass the legislature and increase his beloved school's stadium capacity, Governor Huey P. Long ordered that dormitories be built in the stadium, with seating above the student living quarters.[5] Until the early 1990s, the West, North and South Stadium dormitories were featured as part of student housing at LSU. The dormitories were later converted to office space for Athletic Department staff and faculty. The horseshoe was eliminated in 1953 by the addition of the south grandstands. Unlike the existing stadium structure, they were double-decked in order to fit within the space provided. The first of the two upper decks was added to the west side of the stadium in 1978 to bring capacity to approximately 78,000

an off-shoot of Sherman's troops burned the University of Alabama.

Brigadier General John T. Croxton's Army of the Cumberland, who burned buildings at the University of Alabama, was involved with Sherman's March to the Sea but it was not an "off-shoot." The March to the Sea campaign was actualy the Atlanta Campaign in the summer of 1864 and began in Chattanooga and moved through Georgia to Savannah only.
In April 1865, under orders by U.S. Grant to destroy Confederate supplies and manufacturing, Croxton's Cavalry was active in Alabama. His force of 1,500 men seized Tuscaloosa, strengthening the Union army's grip on central Alabama and eliminating one of the Confederacy's last major supply and munitions centers. In the process, they burned most of the University of Alabama's buildings, as well as much of the town's industry and warehouses.

The original school was where the La state capitol is now located. The first president of what is now LSU was William Tecumseh Sherman, the famous March-to-the-Sea, burn Atlanta General. Of course, an off-shoot of Sherman's troops burned the University of Alabama.
LSU was moved to its present site when Huey Long decided to build a new capitol in the early 30's. The Tulane-dominated legislature refused to let Long build a football stadium. Long then proposed dorms with a huge quadrangle. That quadrangle is the field of Tiger Stadium and the old dorm buildings under the stadium are the dorms Long proposed. They were used as dorms until about 20 years ago.

All true except this. I think it was originally in Pineville.

Fixed. Bama was burned down by the Union in 1865. The Savannah Campaign (or March to the Sea) was in 1864. Gumps are dumb.

John Roy Keeny a name I know well.

Played in 5 of the 6 games in the 1909 basketball season, only missing the BR High game.

His last name was also at times spelled Keeney in the papers.

I'm actually still confused on the details. A sentence by sentence comparison would have been nice, but it seems some appear to be in disagreeance.
