Going to college ended up being a horrible decision for matt purke
if he goes back to TCU and is healthy, he'll get paid next draft

They will probably sign most of them because spending $10 million in draft
hopefully they sign in order of how they were drafted and the first 7 guys get PAID

Good point and doesn't always happen.

When drafted that high going to college usually is a horrible decision. Unless you're David Price and even then you can argue that the money wouldn't have been significantly different.

Agreed, but wasn't Eierman one of those guys that we thought was MLB bound no matter what? Or does he seem to have legitimate interest in college ball?

In my opinion Eierman is not like Story solely using LSU as leverage. Given the fact that he is from out of state he doesn't have a tag read "unsignable" which Josh Bell did before the draft. It will be interesting, I could see this dragging out to August.

Why would you have a tag as unsignable if you were a first round type? I don't care if you're set for life with family money those opportunities change drastically and aren't around in three years in some cases. The odds are against you is all I'm saying.

No idea to be honest. Sometime's parents best interest is for their kid to go to school ala. Gerrit Cole in 2008.

Then the kid needs to take a baseball scholarship at Harvard or Yale then.

Him being healthy isn't exactly a given

Should have taken the big money when he had the chance

Stanford then.

He was first round wasn't he? And simply moved up spots in the first round? Memory may have it mistaken and maybe he was a second rounder or supplemental but I thought he was first?

Well frick. I somehow had it in my head he was like 19 overall, and then jumped to like 14 or 16 or whenever he was drafted. So I wasn't just wrong I missed the boat by a mile. Nice.

He went from the 568th selection to the number 1 overall pick 3 years later.

But I agree if a young man especially pitcher is taken high in the draft you almost would have to sign.
