Okay...needing the moon and stars to align with four or five different outcomes completely out of LSU's control after losing our way out of the championship game is truly the definition of backing into it.
You seem like one of those "fans" that need everything to be in a nice little purple and gold package where LSU was a team of destiny with a poetic climax to a beautifully depicted story.
If was what is was...a result of pure luck after LSU lost the chance to write their own ticket.

BS...LSU doesn't win the SEC CG, they don't get in the BCS CG.
Backing in refers to losing your last game, but still getting in cause others lost their last game. LSU didn't lose their last game and therefore, didn't back in.
LSU was 5-0 in 07 against teams who finished in the top 15. Not one of the other teams ranked high in the BCS poll had anywhere close to those results.
Luck is always a factor in sports as anyone with any common sense knows.

You throw "loser fans" into the mix when someone has the idea that LSU was completely lucky by getting into the 07 championship game. I took a leap of faith on your "fan" persona based on your position.

The stars did align in 03. However, LSU played themselves into the game by winning down the stretch and OK backed into that championship game after losing to K State in the big 12 championship game. Not quite as lucky as LSU in 07, but close.
