Matt. Screw the BCS for a moment. Who are the TWO BEST teams in the country. RIGHT NOW????

lsumatt 3 weeks ago: If Okie St., OU, Oregon, all win out, they've got a great chance to jump Bama
Bama fans: No way! We could never get jumped!!
Okie St., OU, Oregon all lose.
Bama fans: See! I told you we couldn't get jumped! lsumatt is stoopid! derpa derp

Reaching way out there.

Ok State only needs a little over 25% of voters of to put them above Bama
IF all the computers still had OSU as #2. And, about the 25%, there is no sign of a trend against the rematch or SEC in any way.

Voters DO have a history of changing their mind at the last minute. In 2006, lots of voters flipped Florida and Michigan. In 2007, LSU was ranked below the likes of Georgia and Virgina Tech and were even #7 in the BCS. LSU jumped all the way to #2 when most of the teams above them sat at home and didn't lose.
Florida had an extra game. Big 10 did not have a conference championship and SOS was much greater.
LSU 2007. Again an extra game seperated them from all the other 2 loss teams.
Only the SEC and Big 12 had championship games.

Virginia Tech lose BIG
Why would Va Tech have to lose BIG? You think if Va Tech loses in 8 overtimes, some voters might put them and their 2 losses above 11-1 Oklahoma State? really?

Ignore RTRS, he doesn't know how all this works. All he knows is Bama is absolutely 100% in the BCSNCG.

Actually that was a copy job gone wrong. I was just trying to bold "lose" lol. Sorry, my bad.

Matt
What are the chances you are giving to Houston giving OSU problems?

Well it didn't. Ok State #5; Bama gets all but 4 of the #2 votes.

Again, imagining a perfect world where OSU and Bama ended up clearcut 2 and 3, OSU would need:
Coaches- Bama: 1401, OSU: 1372
Harris- Bama: 2731, OSU: 2674
In reality, OSU probably needs above 1360 in the Coaches and 2650 in the Harris to have a shot (this is assuming some folks drop Bama to 4th or 5th to avoid a rematch). This also assumes OSU has a perfect 2 to Bama's 3 in the computers. OSU would need to make up about 115 points in the Coaches and 235 points in the Harris. A Va Tech loss would take care of about half of that ground. They need to campaign and campaign hard if they want any chance and the narrative would have to shift a whole lot from what is being said right now. Still possible, but unlikely.

Matt,
My take on the AP poll. I know a lot of LSU fans were saying that was the start of a trend, but I have a different take on it. Just food for thought.
AP possibly positioning OSU for a split title in the AP in case Alabama were to win the BCS?

I don't think they are "positioning" themselves, but OSU have more of a chance in the AP.
But I seriously doubt a "split title" happens. USC was #1 in the AP going into the bowls and simply didn't lose their #1 ranking. OSU would be #3 and have to move above Bama after Bama beat LSU - not at all likely.
If Bama beats LSU in OT, a split title for LSU I am sure will be discussed.

announcers in the Vikings vs. Falcons game were just lobbying against a rematch

Very doubtful. A split would be much more likely if it were OSU at #2, and Bama at #3 heading into the championship, with Bama getting the AP after OSU beats LSU. As of now, I don't think anyone could argue for an OSU share without getting into the BCSCG with their loss to Iowa State. It's not like they lost to the #1 team in OT.
