At this point, Daniels is what he is. Kelly brought him to LSU to start, because he didn’t want to start an inexperienced redshirt freshman. He could have committed to Nuss, and let him grow into the job, but it’s too late for that now. I’m sure he thought he could teach-up Daniels—but that’s not working. So LSU is now stuck with what it’s got at this point in the season.

I've been saying this up until last night based on a belief that he would get more comfortable and begin to trust his self and his WRs. It was more a "want" (in Les Miles speak) than a reality though.

What's it going to take to get him to cut the ball loose? If he can take tough coaching I'm spending the next week chewing his arse out every time he doesn't make a quick decision and throw. I'm also in the ear of every WR to help him out. I'm also switching Taylor and Bech. Bech can catch poorly thrown balls and can block as good if not better than Taylor. I know Bech is not a true TE, but he can do what a TE does. He can certainly play H Back.

Honestly I have felt the exact same way. By now the improvements should have started showing. They are not. Oline is not an excuse, there were times he had 6 to 8 seconds back there. And still ran the ball. Play calling is not an excuse. We have seen plays with receivers running wide open. The running by him was being figured out by an Auburn team that does not have the athletes nor the coaching other teams in front of us have. That is why they could not sustain it all night. I have a bad feeling this is going to get really rough the next couple of weeks.

You just made the point that it IS in fact play calling...and scheme. Everything you said about him is correct…so make the adjustment, tailor the scheme to how he plays (in games), and call plays that he can/will execute properly. Play.calling.

Nussmeier does NOT look ready to lead this offense.

Solid Post OP. Well said and well thought out. And you may very well be correct. This would be an incredibly "gutsy" decision for CBK to make.

LSU's defense, along with Daniels not turning the ball over, is still the best formula for success. Les Miles beat better than this Tennessee team, doing exactly this, time and time again.
I personally believe you give away most of the big games losses vs the other team just beats you. See Auburn yesterday and Florida St in the 1st game.

You have to give Daniels the start Saturday. He has earned the chance to beat the Vols and keep the dream alive, imo. Time will tell.
