Two things:
LSU wasn't paying Cholly Mac an outrageous salary. My Uncle Fred moaned about Who said LSU fans were happy about it and had lesser expectations?it every year, "Mac is a good second banana."
Why should they pay him Top Dollar? What year did Cholly Mac bring home a National Championship? Only 3 LSU Football Coaches have achieved this. It makes a Huge difference. Agent Jimmy Sexton, has been driving up the cost of Coaches salaries on AD's for years. Miles is not one of his clients & did not start out with a high salary, he earned it. He's had his current salary for 2 seasons, and has delivered 4 ranked teams & 4 Bowl Wins in 5 seasons.
quote:Yeah..Cholly was one of "Bear's Boys". But fans showed the LSU Head Coach some respect. That's not the case today.

7-5 had BETTER get us a new coach, but I think we're about 9-3, myself.

That looks about right, but I think we get out coached in another game and end up 6-6.

He took over after the 04 "mediocre" season. Mediocre being your description of any 9 win season with a non-Top 15 finish and had 3 elite ranking seasons in a row with ranking around Top 5 level and above.
So, going by your past post which labeled 04 as a "mediocre" season didn't Miles raise the LSU program from where he "inherited" it and how many seasons in a row did u expect us to remain at the 05, 06, and 07 level and what coach EVER held us at an elite level longer than Miles did?
Fact: Saban took a weak team in 2000, and built it into a power in the SEC. Teams didnt like to play LSU. We may not have won every game, but the players played hard, and were well coached. You cant say that for Miles.

You do realize Miles' first year wasn't 2008 don't you?

We would be 9-3 every season with 2 MNCs instead of 3?

Miles will be fired only if people reduce TAF contributions and season ticket renewals fall below 99.7%. If some of you want Miles gone, you are going to have to give up your season tickets and quit donating. As long as the money comes in, mediocrity will be accepted.

who's mediocre and where is it being accepted?

LSU has been mediocre in 2008 and 2009. Do you care to dispute that?

In '08...yes. Not in '09....im pretty sure it's called the Top 20...not the Mediocre 20.

I don't see LSU winning more than 8 games this year, not trying to piss anyone off but they are not as good as they once were.

Odds makers only try to predict outcomes at the beginning of the betting cycle. Once the money starts coming in, they're just trying to balance the book.

I can remember a time when fans were debating top 5 finishes, now they have resorted to top 20 finishes

How many teams have finished in the top 5 each of the last 5 years?
Posted on 6/14/10 at 9:33 am to iknowmorethanyou
No you would not if by then we are in the middle of a qb contoversy or struggle in our early games on offense.
FLA will put up more points this year than last year, IMHO.
