Sorry but I have to call BS. I never try and start anything at away games! I'm smart enough to know I'm outnumbered! So don't try and say I don't know how to act. All I did was politely ask three girls from uf to move out of the aisle and stop blocking two girls below us that were worried about saying anything. Don't think I was in the wrong

I've been to 3 games there (2 vs LSU) and each time my experience has been mixed although I would go back again.
Even though the stadium is shaped weird, I liked it, especially the cool endzone deck and suites. Gainsville sucked as usual and the tailgating and fans pregame were average at best.
However the stadium was loud and no one left before late in the 4th quarter in any of the 3 games I attended. It was pretty loud throughout except they do like to sit down most of the time.

Tuscaloser has always been the worst place to visit for me. They are full of arrogance and Little Nicky has ratcheted it up. Miserable trip every other year.

And it's not even close...

I was there. The stadium design lends itself to creating loud noise; stands are close to and overhang the field. At times, it was very noisy. The piped in music was dreadful, worse than anything I've heard in other college stadia, and sounded like a minor league baseball game. I was waiting for the mascots to race some little kid on the field on tricycles, during a time out. Attractive coeds; also, a guido Jersey Shore element that was highly amusing. Jort-wear was toned down. A few fans were dicks after the game; more actually said complimentary things. Could not figure out where the FL student section was ... was it actually next to the LSU BAND?! Bizarre. I liked the stadium overall, pretty cool. Went to the Bob Dylan concert in their basketball arena the night before -- the "O'Connell Center" ... nothing special, and I can't believe they actually won two NC's in that dump (think: Baton Rouge Centroplex.) The chairs are made of hard plastic which people drummed at the end of the concert, so it was easy to see how they generate noise during basketball games. Overall, no problem w/ Gainesville.

From the pics I saw, it looked like they know how to tailgate
We had a good laugh with the other LSU fans sitting around us when they made the announcement "AND NOW FOR THE PUBLIX TAILGATERS OF THE WEEK" and showed on the jumbotron it was a setup with a table and a few bags of chips and some dip on it. We were joking "Where is the food?" IMO the tailgating wasnt bad except the food was lacking, a lot of BBQ but not much else.

Willthethrill you need to open your eyes and ears. I know we have our share of idiots but my two trips to the Swamp were enough for me (and we lost both times, I can't imagine what would have happened had we won). Anyway, I had never been spit at, called a MF, told to F**king go Home MF, and on and on and on by the students (I guess they were students) only to have some alumni apologize for the horrible behavoir of those individuals. And I am not talking about 1 or 2. There were hundreds who were yelling at us. So your smart arse comments are not warranted.

Here is my take on the swamp.
Got there Thursday and parking was a nightmare right around campus around lunchtime. Friday evening the fans were very nice around the midtown area off of University. The average age in the area was probably about 21, but I didn't see any real problems. Nobody talked to us, but I'm very ok with that. I was definitely a little older than a lot of the crowd, but still had fun. Went home before midnight, so who knows how it went down. Cabs weren't too hard to get, so that was nice.
Saturday - We walked a good bit of the campus. Very unique campus. Tailgating was very tame, but we met a handful of nice fans. They Gator baited us and we tiger baited them back. NO big deal. But, I'll be honest...I've never gotten so many dirty looks as we did walking around. We had a fairly large group, so nobody really said much to us. As the Bama game was ending, we tried to stand at the back of a big UF tailgate right outside of the stadium and watch it. It was like they were in disbelief that we were actually watching the game with them. I wanted to see Bama lose just like they did. A woman actually walked up to me and said very seriously, "what the hell are you doing?". I told her rooting for the gamecocks, and she responded with, "you better be careful" and walked away. I just said wow and walked away.
All in all no real problems, but friendly is not a word I would use to describe the fans.

First trip to Gainsville and I'll go back. Wife and I had a great time. Drank and ate in the bars with UF fans and had good, fun comversations. People were helpful. No problems. Way better than the fan base in Oxford.
By the way, UF fans say they here the same thing about Baton Rouge. We invited them to our tailgate next year to change their perception.

i decided a long time ago i'd never go back to Fla. Went in the mid-70s, when Dalton Hilliard was a frosh and a couple of times afterwards (last trip the tie w/ Arnsparger as coach).
I know tiger fans are loud and obnoxious, but i thought the Fla fans are just rude and mean. Never again.

I've been to Georgia, Bama, Arkansas, and Florida...I have to say everything about this place stinks before the game...but come gametime the atmosphere is pretty cool and the place gets loud. Least interesting of the places i've been though...

I will say this about Gainesville, and it's about the only positive: they have a really good bar scene. Midtown is legit, I wish like hell Baton Rouge had something similar. Instead, they hang out in a packed Swamp, while we hang out in a packed Reggie's

I will say this also.
Two dudes + 1 scooter = gay
I've never seen that so often, but it did give me a good laugh.

Sad to say that my LSU brethren have embarassed me as much as the florida fans embarassed themselves on your trip. Sorry for your loss.
