0-2 at the cws is "close" to a championship
no "bad" seasons

Going 0-2 in omaha is most certainly not a "bad" season by any stretch of the imagination.

That's like saying going to the CFP and losing in the first game is a bad season

Boy that’s sllly baseball comment there. I guess Derek Jeter has very little impact to Yankees.

i never said that. i can't for the life of me grasp why people can't understand this simple point i'm making. i am not talking about subjective things like "bad" seasons or national seeds. i'm talking about the win/loss records and when some people see them, they start making excuses for why pm isn't getting it done

Guys, the claim in the article was "LSU will win a championship in the next few years, but they'll win multiple with Turang". Cain is saying Turang has this much influence in the CWS

I don't think a SS has that much influence in the CWS. Pitchers do.

Before you say "well we have to get to the CWS first".. LSU makes it to the CWS on the reg, we have no problem there. So ask yourself this - If you're a coach and you just made it to the CWS, would you rather a stud SS or an ace pitcher???

I'd say ace pitcher and everyone I've talked to, other than you tards, says the same.

Except, we aren’t choosing between a stud shortstop and stud pitcher. We are either adding the best freshman in baseball next year, who will solidify our lineup and play one of the most challenging positions on the field at an elite level or we will have Hal Hughes and his .220 batting average with 1 hr back in the 9 hole. Turang coming here gives us more firepower in the lineup and is an upgrade defensively even with Hughes playing pretty well on that side of the ball. It absolutely can make a huge difference

Obviously you missed the conversation.

I said Cain was making a bold statement saying that about a SS but I could understand if he said that about an ace pitcher.

No, I got it. Cain is saying if we add this player it can make this great team elite. Your argument is true if we are picking between a stud pitcher or SS for 1 game, but over the course of a season an elite SS can make a 5-6 win difference easily. Imagine having Turang up in the lineup in a clutch moment then imagine having Hughes or Broussard up in the same situation. How much more comfortable would you be if you were the coach?

We added several high level pitchers this class, but only 1 guy capable of early pt between 2b, 3B and SS. Adding another will make a world of difference
