the football games are much worse. doens't even tell you what the hell is going on, just a lot of hot air.
it takes the ball to be spotted before you know what actually happened.

i literally have to piece together information the whole game.

He has been the voice of the Tigers most of my life. But I must admit it is time to go, Thanks Jim.

It's gotten bad with LSU fans. It's an obsession with some fans to have everyone frame everything related to LSU in a positive light.

Hawthorne called him Hicks the first 3 times he got the ball last night.

OP. Agreed. It's not the missed calls for me it's the totally negative tone for years. It's too much.

Last time I listened to a Hawthorne broadcast was Alabama 2008... even his booth partner called him out on it in that game.

He is a terrible.... absolutely terrible play by play guy. He always has been.

IMO, he would be a great color analyst. He just needs someone who can do the play by play. His interjecting of pessimism or optimism during the game to an audience that is not watching is frustrating to listen to.....But he is an LSU icon, don't think he is going anywhere any time soon.

Dude you have to be kidding !

Jim H is the Voice of the Tigers. He's like Coach Miles -- both are part of the fabric of LSU football and neither can be replaced.

That's how I see it.

This is such a crock of shite

I'll admit I don't listen to basketball so iont know how good or bad he is.
But I do listen to football and baseball, you people that constantly gripe and btch about Hawthorne are either
1) miserable people who would gripe if a combo of al michales, pat summer all, John fergeson, howard cosell, and brad nessler on their BEST day were our announcer .
Or
2) too fricking stupid to listen to the game, understand that it is an imperfect profession and take the info given and enjoy the ballgame.

I swear to god, some of you people would prob prefer fat Charlie hanigriff... Is he factual and spot on in most of his calls? Yeah, pretty much.
The guy is about as exciting to listen to as he is to look at.

Leaves a lot to be desired. Easiest way to summarize his game calling is you have no idea what is going on in the game. Score, down and distance, if the ball was caught, td or not. One of my favorite things he blurts out is "did you see that". No Jim I didn't, that is why I am having to listen on radio because I can't watch it this minute and would hope you could say what happened but I guess not.

I love that little pic, unfortunately for you it's as relevant as your bitching about JH.

It's difficult for me to listen to basketball, because Hawthorne and Kevin Ford bicker like an old married couple. I'm glad they brought in Blanton to be the mediator.

I'm ok with Hawthorne for football, because I think Moreau and Rush do a good job supporting him.

If Hawthorne retired, and they gave Ron Franklin the job, I would never listen to the TV announcers again.

Hawthorne called the games like he bet some money on LSU. When LSU was losing, he cried and whined. He should be gone.
