HAHAHAHA...
Why the heck do you think there was such a high importance placed on Mettenberger's recruitment? It wasn't Wilson or Crowton or Gonzales or Ensminger...It was Miles. Mettenberger was brought in to compete right away.
Mettenberger had won the starting job at UGA. The kid who replaced him, Aaron Murry, is better than our two guys. Mettenberger gives LSU a better shot a more consistent vertical passing game. Look what happened against A&M when we were able to pass the ball.
Oh and don't give me the JJ can do it next year. Maybe if we have 3-4 weeks to prepare for each team.
Mettenberger being here is the best thing to happen to LSU at the QB position. He will either push JJ and JL to a new level or pass them up. If either happens, it equals wins.

Spencer Ware...he has the best TD to INT ratio...

I'm not going to argue that Jefferson won't start but
" the coaching staff has had every chance to bench jefferson and this did not happen." is not a valid reason.
The coaching staff couldn't bench Jefferson because they had no one else to go to. Sadly, Lee had opprotunities where he proved he wasn't the man either.

dude, that was sarcasm
bet my house...can I bet after I see spring practice?
I think its safe to say with all the starts by underclassmen over vets that Les will be playing the personnel who give LSU the best chance to win. In regards to QB, the staff would be fools not to.
A&M benched a pre-season all-Big 12 in favor of a converted WR. VA Tech seems to do it every year. This isn't unheard of for a veteran, starting QB to lose his job to a more talented player.

The QB that is best prepared to get us a win will start the game vs Oregon. If ZM kicks arse this spring he will start next season.

There is no doubt that JJ will enter the spring as the starter. Mettenberger will have to take the job from him. This means that if there is no material difference between the two, JJ will start.
However, a couple of opinions. First, Miles' definition of material is going to be smaLler than in years past. Let's say Lee had to be 25% better than JJ to win the job last spring. This spring? Mettenberger will only need to be 10% better.
Second, I think Mettenberger has the ability to easily beat out JJ.
Third, Miles knows he has a national title contender next season. He knows that with better QB play this past year, LSU is at least in a BCS Bowl. He'll do everything he can to put his team in a position to win.
Long way of saying that I won't be surprised on Sept 3rd regardless of who the QB is. If I bet today, I guess JJ. But I don't like the odds and I hope that ZM shows up under center.

When Mett lights up the scoreboard in the spring game there will be no denying who the Qb is.
