We'll be fine, I think. We lose 3 RBs, so it looks worse than it really is. By position we do not lose that much on offense or defense. Black has not been good this year, replacing him will not be difficult.

2010 LSU > 2009 LSU, 2010 has a tough schedule though.

We lose a lot of SR leadership off of this team, but I am becoming convinced that the only leadership that really matters is from the QB position. So no matter what happens the rest of the way, we will almost certainly have more leadership there than this year.

I love Scott, but I think Lafell will be our biggest loss. Not that we can get him the ball, but dude is always open. We are going to need Toliver and Randle to step up big-time, but also a 3rd guy, be it Chris Tolliver or J. Taylor. Or maybe even Shep. And we'll need a FR or 2 to contribute as well. I think Deangelo Peterson might actually be an upgrade over Dickson. I think he provides more mismatches lined upon LBs if he can block adequately. Ridley, Ford, and whatever FR TB we sign should be able to fill in for Scott and Keiland production-wise. And though we'll have a new LT for the 1st time in 4 years, the OL can't be any worse than it is now. (Can it?)

On defense, we might miss Alem, Riley, Cutrera, and Woods/Alexander. But even if their replacements aren't an upgrade(though they very well might be), our returning starters should be so much better that it more than makes up for the difference. And having Chavis for a 2nd year should also make for a better D.

I actually like the way our schedule sets up this year. I think 10-2 is very doable, with 11-1 still being a realistic possibility. Our '10 team might actually be better, but still have a slightly worse record. That schedule next year could be brutal.

I think the Defense will be better next year. I like Sheppard at MLB and Baker at WLB. I also think Sam Montgomery replaces Alem at WDE. Nevis and Downs at DT, and maybe an open competition for SDE with Pep, Edwards and Chancey. It will be interesting to see who the strongside backer will be, I got a feeling Chavis will have 3 safeties starting with Chad Jones, Brandon Taylor and Craig Loston. The secondary will be the best in the country.

On offense I think Crowton will use more spread formations similar to what Oregon does and I think Ford will be the featured back. Also think Shep will have a major role in the offense next year.

Hot Carl's post was spot-on.

We've won 5 of 6 with 6 more to go. Heck, later today we're gonna be ranked 6, 7 or 8 in the first BCS ratings, no?

There's a great opportunity for LSU to have a special season. Why so many Ranters have to buzz-kill that possibility in advance, well, I'm not goin' there with you. I'd rather try to enjoy and be optimistic about these games before they're actually played--and, when warranted--be critical and honest in registering my displeasure. (Which I've already done quite a bit.)

Auburn's got next and they weren't that impressive last night. Then there's only 2 road games left (I know, I know, there's NO way LSU can possibly win at 'Bama and maybe not at Ole Piss, either...). Who predicted that all these "elite" teams would be so challenged to score offensive touchdowns, esp. at this point of the season? If you can score 20-24 pts. or more a game against SEC teams (counting LSU) you can win, regardless of the opponent. And we have a pretty solid defense that's improving.

I'd say a lot of what does happen next yr. (and it's way too early to make even a 50 percent evaluation of 2010 at this moment) is predicated on which coaches will be here next year.

We will still have the talent to compete with anyone, we will be hurting in experience though. This is the reason I don't support the redshriting of so many freshman. I hope our coaching staff knows what they are doing

From Dandy Don today......

"As for LSU, I like the young talent on the team but I believe the team is a year away from competing for a national title. I do believe that LSU can make a serious run for the national title in the 2010 season, along with Alabama.

LSU will be stronger at each position next season but will have to replace five outstanding players on offense in Charles Scott, Keiland Williams, Ciron Black, Richard Dickson and Brandon LaFell. Richard Murphy, Russell Shepard, Michael Ford, Stevan Ridley, and hopefully Lache Seastrunk, will be the leading candidates to replace Scott and Williams. Les Miles has several outstanding offensive linemen to replace Ciron Black and Lyle Hitt including Jermarcus Hardrick (6'7", 320) from Scott Community Junior College who is considered one of the top junior college offensive line prospects in the nation. Redshirt freshman Chris Faulk is also an outstanding prospect and is expected to challenge for a starting position in Spring practice. Deanangelo Peterson and Mitch Joseph will replace Richard Dickson. Lafell's shoes will be filled by Rueben Randle and two great incoming freshmen in Justin Hunter and Mike Davis.

On defense, LSU should be great in 2010. John Chavis will have to replace a few key players including Rahim Alem, Perry Riley, Harry Coleman Chris Hawkins and Jacob Cutrera, but replacing the five should not be a major problem. Redshirt freshmen Sam Montgomery, Michael Brockers and Chris Davenport are expected to challenge for starting positions in the defensive line in Spring practice as will Chancey Aghayere, Lavar Edwards, Chase Clement and redshirt junior college defensive tackle Akeim Hicks. At the linebacker position, Ryan Baker will replace Perry Riley, two incoming true freshmen - Justin Maclin and Luke Munice - will likely replace Cutrera and Harry Coleman. Maclin and Muncie are both 6'3", 215 and each received over 20 scholarship offers."

Yeah, because based on LSU's play and Auburn's play in the 2009 season thus far, that definitely points toward Auburn beating LSU in Baton Rouge.

last yrs sec games don't count, so already your mathematics is flawed. yes, you screwed up 2 + 2. this year, our sec record is 3-1 and we have 4 games yet to be played. if you tell me we will lose them all, i could assume you are a phycic (sp) but you're so bad at math i don't think so. i think we will be better next year. losing black, scott and lafell wil be easier to take than losing periloux, h. johnson, q. johnson, the other OL that i can't remember right now, etc. i think our qb situation will be much better, our OL actually improved, our DL improved and therefore a better team.

Apology not accepted.

Please channel your inner RobbBobb and tell everyone exactly (with the benefit of seeing them lose last night) how LSU is gonna lose to Auburn-ed.

I have compiled a registry of live births in La,cross-referenced it with likely areas of recruiting density, and using my data points and a disgronificator, am now 96.1 % sure that we will lose five games in 2021.

Abandon all hope.

Actually, we're 6-1 in the last 7 games, beating 3 SEC teams and three nationally ranked teams.
