Didn't Perry Riley take some snaps as a middle linebacker, especially when Beckwith was out? He could play a decent amount at MLB, while Kelvin and Ryan Baker play on the outside. I think Cutrera will play as well, but he seems to get lost on the field. Baker is pretty small, but seems to have better instincts.
I guess a lot of this is predicated on Riley's ability to pull off MLB.
Isn't Alexander a bit of a longshot at getting his sixth year because his circumstances are different than Pittman's? I don't know if he could be too useful, if he comes back. He was very talented a few years ago, but I don't think he can ever play a full season again. It's a shame he got so many injuries.

I think having Cutrera and Sheppard out there together, our LBs wouldn't look much better than this year.

He's not that freakin slow.
no he's not. great recovery speed.
i saw him miss two tackles in the same play.
and i'm not kidding. i wish for the life of me i could remember which game it was.

I agree. Cutrera is the fastest LB we have. He only looks slow because he is white.

We should be good at d line. A lot of underclassman and true freshman.

Jean-Francois update
On Thursday, ESPN college football reporter Joe Schad wrote that LSU junior Ricky Jean-Francois plans to enter the NFL draft.
LSU disputed the report.
“We talked to him last night,” sports information director Michael Bonnette said Friday, “and there was nothing to it. I don’t know where they got that information.”
Bonnette said Jean-Francois, a defensive tackle, has not decided whether to return for his senior season.

Baker doesn't have much going on upstairs. The kid is way behind mentally. Athleticaly he is fantastic.

I am just looking for Chavis to really upgrade the LB play. Always seems to be the weak spot in LSU defense. Maybe one of these years LSU will even sign some top LB recruits.

I don't know about that. He runs about a 4.65 at best. Riley looks like he's got better closing speed. That said, I like Cutrera better.

You know what we're loaded with talent when Phelon Jones and John Williams aren't mentioned as starters after being on the team for two years. I guess that's a good thing though.
