Arena League? Guys like Jordan Jefferson are starting in the Arena League. I think at 310 Jamarcus was already better than that.

I have been harsh on the guy. He gave us every reason he could think of to hate him once he left LSU.

That being said, I think I would rather him at #3 instead of Seneca Wallace, whom the Saints just inked.

Arena League?

JR can throw the ball 60 yards from one knee...

He can't play Arena ball, his arm might kill a fan

This was his downfall imo..

Not saying he had to play area ball...but he could have went to Canada, UFL (It just recently got cancelled) or as you say..Arena.

PLAY SOMEWHERE. He had 3 years to plays in a league and build up his reputation. Just bad advice or no advice from people in his corner.

*sigh*

I'm hoping he gets on a team. Just feel like he could have increased his chances playing in one of the lower leagues.

With no NFL teams willing to give Kirt Warner a chance, he turned to the Arena Football League in 1995, and signed with the Iowa Barnstormers.

Warner was named to the AFL's First-team All-Arena in both 1996 and 1997 after he led the Barnstormers to Arena Bowl appearances in both seasons.

Warner's performance was so impressive that he would be named twelfth out of the 20 Best Arena Football Players of all time.

Jamarcus could prove himself just like Kirt Warner did.

if he puts in the time in the film room and builds a professional relationship with a head coach (instead of just thinking of him as a boss but more of a partner) then I think JR has a fighting chance. Is he the only number one pick LSU has ever had?

WTF? You think he was taking advise before now? You think they were advising him to eat a horse every day?
Dude was on a personal demolition journey and taking advise from NO ONE!

A fair recounting, but Russell's game isn't suited for the Arena League. Warner was a short pass, West-Coast type QB, which worked well in the Arena League. In fact, his skills were enhanced by it and he was able to perfect those same skills.

JR will never be a "West-Coast" offense type QB--it has never been his proper skill set. He is much more suited to the play-action, deep pass game that used to be much more popular before Bill Walsh came up with the "West-Coast". That's why Al Davis was so high on him--that's the offense he wanted to run, but Davis was also at odds with his coaches on this point. Few teams really run that offense now, with the Ravens being the notable exception (but even their offense has a lot of West Coast style components.)

Now, you could argue that Canada would have been a better option, and you would have a point. However, the Arena League would have only highlighted his weaknesses and wouldn't have helped him.

Unfortunately for him, his style isn't really prevalent in the NFL right now, so the number of teams he would fit in is limited. It's good that a "West-Coast" style QB (Garcia) is mentoring him, but you will never really change his strengths.

I hope he succeeds.

Kirt Warner ran Mike Martz's version of the Air Coryell offense at St. Louis. If any NFL starting QB can't make it in the Arena League, he won't last in the NFL.

If you mean Russell does not have the accuracy to make it in the Arena League, he won't make it in the NFL, and that is why Russell is all show and no go.

He said he's too good for the arena league, or any league except the NFL, even since he's had his "change of heart"
