new twist to SEC tourney?

besides the 10 team format, I just noticed the semifinals (Final 4) are now single elimination. didn't look that way on the 2011 bracket.

once you get to that point, none of the teams left want to burn up pitching for the next week

Next year is going to be even more of a cluster.

It seems like the first round bye is not a big advantage. If you are the four or five seed, you will get a day off if you win your first game. That sets them up better for their pitching rotation.

Nola will start wed but only throw about 2 innings and he will treat it like a midweek game, throw the whole bullpen

No it won't, it's still gonna be 10 teams just like this year.

Can someone explain the logic of giving a first round winner a bye, putting them on level with the top two seeds?

There are 5 teams in each bracket so someone has to have a bye the first two days.

and worse... if 4 or 5 seed loses then 6 or 7 seed is getting that bye. pretty strange.
