ive seen their football jumbotron. this thread is about baseball so i was assuming he was asking to see their baseball jumbotron or perhaps he's just confused.

No, this thread is about the "New Jumbotron". May have been an attempted hijacking, but it's pretty clear that he is asking about the football jumbotron in the original post.

Holy Massive Gigantic Screen Batman!!!!

Is ours gonna be that big?!?!?

Wouldn't it be sweet if the Athletic Dept. would open TS in the offseason and play movies on that thing? They could charge $10 a ticket and if you sell 50k thats half a mil each show!!!!

That's dangerously close to being picked up as a sig pic if you don't watch it.

do you really think they put a screen that big on top of our bowl? look how low to the ground it is at texas.

central i concede that this thread probably was about the football jumbrotron but im not really sure how your bolded text of "new jumbrotron" proves that.

I don't think it will be as large as UT's jumbotron, but something closer to Auburn's would be good. After making trips to UT and Auburn this year, it was really hard for me to watch our screens. The thing about those 2 schools is that there is only one jumbotron.

I don't know. What does the elevation of our bowl vs. texas' stadium have to do with anything?
Does anyone know the dimensions of the new one and the dimensions of the one in the TX pic?

i just dont see them being able to put something that big on top of our bowl considering how much taller it is than texas.

If your talking about constructability - It's not impossible. I still don't see what the elevation has to do with the size of the screen. Sure, the support columns and foundations would have to be much bigger but if they can lift it 50 feet up, I promise there's a giant crane somewhere that can lift it another 50.

I would rather them take their time and get it right versus rushing it with exposed sewer pipe and crap like that.

Jus sayin'!

Ok. to answer my own question. The Texas one, nicknamed Godzillatron, is much bigger than the one we're getting. Ours will be less than 1/3 the size of that one. Godzillatron is made by the same company as ours, Daktronics. I couldn't find actual dimensions of it but its listed as 7370 sq. feet.

Godzillatron

Ours is gonna be 80 ft. wide by 27 ft. tall which comes out to 2160 sq. feet. so it's not even close. But it's still a lot bigger than what we got.

It looks like the new one will be a little bit smaller than Auburn's. Their's is 30 feet high by 74 feet wide and our's will be 27 by 80 ft.

Hate to break it to you but their is going to be tons of exposed sewer (along with drain and eletrical conduit) in the new Alex Box. It's the nature of the design (concourse with suites above). But, it's pretty common among minor league and newer college baseball stadiums.
