25 mil doesnt go as far as some of you think. However I would love for them to fix the damn dorm windows in Tiger Stadium. The outside of the stadium looks like crap. It's embarrassing.

If you could build a new tiger stadium with the exact design but encorporate the collosium look more into the outside would you go for it? A couple of weeks ago I was reading about Rice stadium and it said it would completed in like 9-10 months, how is that possible? Messicans?

We dont need a new stadium...but we need to do something with the dorms and fix the windows. It's pathetic. I brought a friend to a game 2 years ago and he didnt understand why the outside looked so dilapidated.

It was just hypothetical, obviously since they just added on to it they don't plan to do that but it seems like they wait until the small problems become big ones to fix anything making it a huge lump of money at once.

I wish they would just fix the windows on Tiger Stadium. I'm sure they could do that for less than $100,000.

You clearly aren't in construction and have no clue how much cost adds up. The equipment rental alone would probably be $20,000 for several man-lifts and gas for 6 months or so. On top of that, every window that gets changed out would have the possiblity of the asbestos (claims that there is asbestos in the existing rooms) becoming airborne so serious consideration would need to be made whether it was removing it all together (my personal option) or putting up an air barrier against the friable material. Add that the cost of the labor and material to remove the old windows and add new ones, you're looking at $500,00 - $1,000,000 depending on the design.

Why spend that kind of change to replace broken windows that are just going to be busted out again? What they really need to do is completely cover all the windows areas with "Something" that looks decent. If they're not going to renovate all the rooms inside, what's the point of replacing the windows? Just COVER them up with some sort of grey Greco-Roman Arches that would fit into or over the existing window boxes. That style would blend in with the architecture of the stadium. Just do something to cover the eyesore from public view asap.....

I would be for anything like that as long as it removed the eyesore...

You clearly must want to bid on a contract.

Replacing the broken glass could be done from the inside. I could change the glass with a can of putty, a glass cutter and the glass.

It would be awesome to work on the project but i'm not bidding on it. The point is, when opening windows, there are bound to be portions debris that get disturbed, not only from the closed windows but also from the rooms that are broken.

The Interior of the stadium was cinder blocks, the only asbestos might be in the floor tile which is not dangerous and perhaps insulation on pipes that were outside the living areas.

You are acting like thousands of LSU students should bring mestotheiloma (sp?) suits against LSU fro putting us in there.

They have a lot of asbestos inside of the rooms from old furniture, yes tile, etc. The DEQ (Department of Environmental Quality) would not let you just open this up and putty the glass from the outside. To do it right you would need to get a lot of parties involved which gets expensive.
The fact that ONE student could potentially sue and/or get sick is more risk than the few hundred thousand that LSU could spend to do it right. I've seen owners try to "do the minimum and then a little less if possible" and it always ends up costing the amount it should have cost if they did it correctly to start and then most of the time a little more.

It's just the reality of the situation.
