Damn. How did Bama's RPI get so high, OOC scheduling?

A series on the road against College of Charleston helped.

Minnesota also visited Bama for a couple of midweek games. They have a bad RPI, but they did win the Big Ten.

Samford and Southeastern La. are also solid OOC opponents.

One OOC against Auburn, and one OOC against Georgia (bc Bama didn't play UGA in-conference this season).

6 host sites remaining...

2nd place in the SEC SC is a lock to host a regional. All we had to do was win a game or 2 in the SEC tourny and a Super would have been a lock. Even after our debacle some sites still predict us hosting a Super. Will get a regional.

Probably. I just hope Clemson doesn't get one.

They shouldn't they struggled pretty badly down the stretch. They still pulled out their division by sweeping FSU (actually helped SCs national seed chances) but thats negated by losing a series to a horrid WF team and going 1-2 in the ACC tourny (once again they helped by having their 1 win against national seed contender GT)

Also does anyone know what time they're announcing who is hosting tomorrow and what time they're announcing the rest of the field on Mon.?

2:30 this afternoon and 11:30 AM on Monday (both central times)--I put it below the new RPIs in the post just a few above yours.

Here's my wish list:

ACC hosts = UVA, Mia., GT, & FSU.
SEC hosts = UF, SCAR, Arkie, & LSU.
3 other hosts = CSF, TCU, & OU or UConn or a 5th SEC team (Auburn? Bama?).

Not very likely though...

UConn

All predictions seem hell bent on an SEC team going up to UConn (some have Vandy as a #1 seed going up there) the latest SEbaseball.com from Rivals did have AU hosting a regional.

Does the committee want to send a message that NCAA baseball is friendly to the North by giving New England a regional site (and giving the Big East a 2nd host site outside of Louisville), or does the committee want to send a message to potential hosts to upgrade their facilities beyond a seating capacity of 2000? That is the question...

And I think that the committee is really going to have fits trying to decide which teams of the top 7 in the SEC deserve to host.

Latest Projections

I would love to see that, not just because SC has a national seed, it isn't an "easy-win" regional or match-up with TCU but I would certainly rather have TCU come to Columbia over having to travel anywhere / any other of the hosting teams come to Columbia.

That projection also has LSU going down to Miami.

I don't see that happening.

Like I said in another thread, if LSU is a #2 seed, the #1 seed will likely be TCU, OU, or Clemson (maybe even FSU), unless UConn gets shipped down to Baton Rouge as a #1 seed.

Miami, Oregon State, and LSU is a strong regional. We could win it though.

14-16 SEC

This is why we will not host a regional.

Auburn and USCe are locks to host, IMO. Something is terribly wrong if 20+ conference wins don't get you a regional.

Only a few hours left before we know.

We should get it based on our bad arse facilities. Who wants to watch a regional played in the equivalent of a city park?

Doc (or anyone with a good guess),

I know that the loss to Miss. State didn't seem like that big of a deal @ the time . We had cinched a tourney birth that Sat. , so all it did was drop us from 7th (we would have been placed ahead of Bama due to our regular season sweep) to 8th. NO BIG DEAL....so we thought.

The fact that : 1) we are now facing that 7th seed(Bama) in the finals with the results of the game after the regional hosts have been announced. 2) the loss gave us a losing record for the regular season in SEC # 3) kept us from having a 6 game winning streak at decision time. 4) gave us a loss to a really bad team at the very end of the regular season!

Could this one loss conspire to change no big deal into BIG DEAL ???

Wow, didn't realize Bama didn't even submit a bid. Still don't think it will happen for us....but you never know.
