I guess what you are saying is Miles should have had a better plan in place so as not to rely on freshmen and Sophomore QB's

Bingo!

A lot of our woes can be attributed to no back-up plan behind Ryan Perriloux.

I feel no more or less confident than this time last year

the only thing Jefferson improved on was throwing the ball away, and that still took like 8 games

QB situation will still be a huge ? next season

What kind of fricking backup plan did you want?

LSU had no other QB other than Hatch and Lee because no other 4 or 5 star QB was going to come in the same class as Perrilloux.

Then why be dishonest?

Ask the question you want the answer to. . .or ask THIS in one of the bazillion JJ threads.

2006 we recruited zero QB's there lies the problem

Yup

also, take a look at this very plausible scenario

Zach Lee goes pro in baseball, Jarrett Lee transfers...we go into 2010 with Jordan Jefferson and Chris Garrett ad scholarship QBs

yikes

yep. The year after RP signed was the killer. Florida signed 4 star Brantley the year after Tebow. You either get the job done or you get left looking for excuses.

Wasn't Alex Cate 2006 recruit, even though he completely sucks at Okie St. he'd be a body.

It's not like Lee wasn't a big name out of high school one year later. Even if we had one in our 06 class, he wouldn't have been any more experienced than Lee was.

How many freshman/sophmore Qb's atg LSU have not had senior guidance to learn from. Not to mention no QB coach to develop them.

Hopefully our new "passing game coordinator" can also develop our young QB's.

Time will tell.

Entering 2010 with a redshirt freshman and still developing junior is a scary situation

Hate to bust your bubble, but LSU QBs who have started as sophs, have usually digressed their Junior years, and some even into their Senior years.

Amadee - passing % decreased by 4 points, and threw for half as many TDs. He even had more TDs and completions than his senior year.

Ensminger - Woodley played more at QB his junior year, and Ensminger showed no increase in completion % his senior year, and had half the TDs.

Risher - threw for 2x as many TDs his soph year as he did his junior year.

Wickersham - had 400 yards more his soph year as he did in either his junior or senior year. Had more completions his soph year. Also, had more TDs than as a senior.

Hodson - more completions, higher %, more TDs and more yards in his soph year.

Howard - only had a little over 100 more yards his senior year vs his soph year.

Tyler - had more passing yards his soph year than junior

So if JJ has a worse numbers next year, then we are in huge trouble, with most of our skill players leaving. The load will fall on JJ, and I don't think he can carry an elite college program.

This has soooo much to do with next season when the last one on your list is Tyler.

Todd McClure

remember, he was a walk on and he plays in the pros!

i can't name one, but i can say this; if you are looking for statistics, forget it, they are misleading. it's a team game! if it wasn't, this LSU team may very well had a lossing season had it not been for the Defense this season; and they played about 10 minutes more than the offense did this season.

I don't know if this was said because I haven't read this entire thread, but how about Matt Flynn in the Peach Bowl. He was a sophomore with about 10 plays under his belt. He looked well prepared imho. Maybe, just maybe, JJ and JL aren't the ones. just saying

Matt Flynn in the Peach Bowl was one game and it wasn't any better than true freshman JJ against Ga Tech last year.
