Herb was essentially Marcus Randall with a weaker arm but better running ability.
don't disparage Herb like that

Less than 6000 yards and 40 tds isn't good for a 4 year starter
didn't start 4 complete years though. Came in at the end of 95 and played the last 2 of 3 regular season games and the bowl game.

Herb Tyler was good wasn't he?

It's the truth look at the numbers any games where Faulk and Mealey couldn't go off and he had to throw we were pretty much screwed. Hell Cecil went for 250 and we still couldn't pick up that 3 and 2(even though the pass was stupid idea) with the exception of the glorius Fla game.

What expectations were there for Herb in his FR and SO seasons?
Not high I agree. So it is only acceptable to not have a 2500 yd/20td+ qb is if we are considered a bad team?

Nice thread, senor. But let's not confuse all the little rantards in the middle of their tantrums.

Does Jefferson get ANY blame for the offensive woes? Or since he is a young sophmore with better stats than any other sophmore (other than Hodson), Jefferson is excused from blame.
By reading this board I would say YES, Jefferson gets a hell of a lot of blame. I'm not trying to excuse him from blame, but I also accept that with a 19 year old kid in the SEfrickingC there is going to be a learning curve. That learning curve is unacceptable on the Rant.

Tim Tebow's stats got worse after his sophomore year so it's not a forgone conclusion that quarterbacks get better with age

Not high I agree.

But his team's got better. Stupid point.

and by the way, my comments weren't meant to disparage Jefferson...just a defense of Tyler.
People make him out to be a Jamelle Hollieway or Tommy Frazier who hardly ever had to throw. My comments were primarily directly at the accuracy aspect. The stats prove this out.

Yeah, I really dont understand the shitting on JJ. I cant think of many QBs that could have done much better with this coaching, this OL, and a 4th string RB. And the WRs didnt help him out at all against PSU.

So since 1987 there has been... one? Is that your answer?

My intentions in this little exercise wasn't to bash a former LSU quarterback. I think most people on here should be able to recognize exactly what it is I am trying to say here.

It is childish and ends up being completely dishonest.

oh,i understand what you're getting at. Tyler is the only one who fits the bill during the time frame you referenced.

How was I dishonest? I asked a question, and got Herb Tyler. I still think my point is valid.

I guess what you are saying is Miles should have had a better plan in place so as not to rely on freshmen and Sophomore QB's
