quote:

Why do people in South Louisiana not like the people in North Louisiana.

It has been my experience that Religion has a lot to do with this. My family has Baptist in-laws from North LA, and if I could describe they way they treat us (Catholics) in one word, it would be condescending.

They way they act, you'd swear their shite doesn't stink and N.LA has no crime or problems and their life in every way is just superior. Not saying all people from N.LA act this way, it's just been my experience with the family's in-laws and their friends.

"Because ya'll root for the Cowboys"

Nearly 2/3 of the broadcast area of Shreveport television stations is in Texas, Arkansas, even some of southeast Oklahoma. Those folks care little for New Orleans and the Saints. The stations carry what their viewers want to see. Add to this that for the past 40 years the Cowboys have played in several super bowls while the Saints have been a running joke.

BTW, LSU is "Louisiana's Team". The Saints (or any pro team anywhere) are nothing but hired guns. Given an opportunity, players will bolt to a better paying team. If/when the NFL decides, the Saints will move to Los Angeles, San Antonio, or come back begging to the state for more money/concessions not to move. LSU will always be here.

We are fortunate that LSU does not have to share the state with another major program. I'll never understand why some want to undermind that broad support for a regionalistic view. And that's often the case when this subject arises.

It's really a culture clash if anything.

I grew up in avoyelles parish, which is seriously like right on the line between coonass and what you'd typically find in north louisiana (seriously, there is a bridge you cross over near Marksville and the whole damn dialect changes, it's insane.) and it still took me a little while to get used to living in north LA.

I'm not used too all the hills and I missed the smell of burning cane fields
