Keep laughing. It's easy to say "Les is an idiot. He can't call plays. He obviously picked the assistant position coach with the worst resume over Jack Del Rio"
But face it
EVERYONE TURNED US DOWN
There were interviews for weeks. I don't doubt that people in the media were hearing names, because Les WAS ACTUALLY TALKING TO THEM. But for some reason everyone kept saying no.
And your theory is that Les, Alleva, the rest of the coaching staff, and all of the advisors on their staff ignored that Kevin Steele has failed on almost every level?
You, sir, are the clown

It's been mentioned in a lot of articles and shite that the new DC will get a very similar contract to what we offered Chavis... So around the ballpark of $1.3m a year salary. Which automatically makes the new DC 1 of the highest paid assistants in all of college football.
So your whole "contract restrictions and not wanting to break the bank" theory is shot down.
And I mean we offered $1.3m to Chavis anyways. We were willing to "break the bank." It's not like Alleva was sitting there and decided to not give Chavis an extension or new contract and wanted him to leave just so the D could stop bailing out our O or whatever because they were tired of Miles shite and what not.

I think that much is clear.

My theory is there were a lot of restrictions on the possible contract.
This is totally Alleva's responsibility. As AD, you do what you have to to compete.

Alleva may suck, but he does this for a living. He literally does this all day.
We're about to see the fruits of Alleva's labor, and I'm betting it's going to taste pretty sour.

Do you think Joe Blow superfan knows more stats than Alleva and his crew? Knows more info about Steele's previous jobs?
The proof is in the pudding. You want some stats? Remember how bad we thought LSU's defense was under Malveto? It was still ranked 36 in total defense. What did Steele do at Clemson...try 20, then 19 (not bad), then: 70 and 65

How is it sabotaging yourself to tell Miles you won't give him an unlimited budget, that they won't pay the buyouts of the newly signed staff to bring in a entirely new crew, and they won't promise the new DC a guaranteed contract if Miles gets canned.
It sounds like someone is doing what we all want them to do and lighting a fire under Les' arse.
If I'm wrong then why didn't they give Chavis whatever he wanted? Because they thought Kevin Steele was better? Or because they are tired of throwing money at something that isn't working and they can't buy out Miles yet?

You keep saying this like is suddenly makes Steele's hire better. IT DOESN'T. It proves that Miles and Alleva mucked this whole thing up to epic proportions.
If you are getting high level interest from qualified candidates, and settle for a position coach with a terrible resume as DC, then obviously the fault lies with the people in charge.
