Why was Mett and the starting O-line still in the game?

Prepare to be labeled a "miserable fan" just for attempting to discuss this on here.

Why does Drew Bree's take every snap for the Saints regardless of score? Surely no LSU player is more valuable to us than Bree's is to the Saints? Surely Sean Payton is no dummy?

I actually think a lot of it is to get the guys prepared to play 4 quarters, because they will have to against at least Florida, Bama, and A&M.

you really think bringing in Jennings and having him hand the football off a few times is going to give him good prep for next season?

Why not allow Jennings to throw some passes?

Our coaching staff are such morons! Imagine how good our record would be over the last 8.5 seasons if they would simply think about what they are doing.

Last night victory was secured, score 52-26 with close to 7 minutes left. Why was Mett and the starting O-line still in the game? I just cant figure out why our staff doesn't take the opportunity to get back ups PT and more importantly keeps starters from unnecessary injury. I know no one got hurt, but I just don't think it is very smart

you are totally right.. if Mett was to get hurt, there is no one with experience.

..it is very shortsighted

If they bring in Jennings, all he's gonna do is handoff. What's the point? He isn't learning anything by handing off, and up 5 TDs, most coaches aren't gonna let em throw it.

Also, Cameron MAY have that call, and coming from the NFL, seems to be the M.O. with NFL guys. Who's Drew Brees' backup?? If it weren't for preseason, none of us would know.

Yep, but the morons who know everything about football will make fun of you for saying this.

Keeping starters in when the game is out of reach is just asking for injuries, we don't have the depth we previously had at some positions. It isn't smart football.

What happened the last time Jennings handed off?

It concerns me as well

4th quarter with 3 minutes to go in a game that is well out of reach is when your mental tenacity takes a tumble, you know you've won, you don't really care, and aren't really trying... this is when injuries happen.

Mind first and the body follows

If I was Les (which I'm not) - I'd put Jennings in and let him get some actual throws in on the last drive. They intercept it? big deal

But I do understand the need to pump up the mental endurance of your starters for when they hit a big wall they need to break through late in a big game, like a 2 minute drill for a meaningful victory. You need them ready.

Yes, I do. A better question is, do you think having Jennings standing on the sidelines all year is going to give him good prep for next season?

you take an all or nothing, black and white view to your logic (which is the problem with most of this board). Can you see the grey? It is better to HAVE him in the game, no matter what the situation, than to have him standing on the sidelines.

I am extremely pleased that you play no role in the coaching of LSU's football team. In your best interest, do not quit your day job. In LSU's best interest, please find a way inside Nick Saban's mind and share your thoughts with him.

To learn how to hand off better, to learn the offensive play calls, and checks at the line, to read defenses, to get game experience, to get rid of the nerves.

I can think of about 10 reasons to have him in there. Can you think of one reason to LEAVE Mett in the game?

Yall really are some worthless miserable pieces of shite!!

Drew Brees is going to be the saints qb next season. Mettenberger will not be lsu's qb next season.

no, but handing off in garbage time isn't going to make any difference in his development. Hopefully he'll get to play quite a bit vs. Furman.

yes, to put the game out of reach given the defense's propensity to give up quick scores...although I would have put Jennings in on the last drive.

The game was well in hand, we had a 3 possession lead with 5 min to go.

. Equating SEC game experience on the road in front of a hostile crowd to garbage time does not compute.

Here's to Furman.
