So, since we're talking hypotheticals, if LSU won the West and made to either the Sugar Bowl or NC...it would still be in LSU's best interest to fire Miles....is that what im taking from this?

The UNC game will tell me a lot. More than the QBs, I want to see how our run defense does. imo how we do against the run will define our season.

Just what I was thinking. Perhaps Nuts4LSU would be happier as a bama fan!

Remember - mine was "best case" and that would require Bama to stumble twice on the road to the West title, leaving room for LSU to edge in (like the 2007 MNC). How that will happen at Bama, I don't know. But things do happen sometimes. I think this is very, very unlikely.

My assessment of footbal schedule 2010

quote:

UNC neutral site

@ Vandy

MSU

West Va

It would be an unpleasant surprise if we aren't at least 3-1 through this stretch. 4-0 is plausible.

quote:

Tenn

@ Florida

McNeese State

@ Auburn

This stretch has one sure loss (Florida) and two tossups (Auburn, Tenn). We would have to be lucky to be better than 2-2 through these four games. That puts us at 6-2 or 5-3 heading into...

quote:

Bama

ULM

Ole Miss

@ Ark

This is where have failed in the last two years. A combined 1-5 vs. Bama, UM and Arkie, plus lackluster performances against supposed cupcakes similar to ULM. Bama is, of course, unwinnable again, and there's no reason to think we play any better against Ole Miss or Arkie than we have the last two years when we just mailed it in after failing against Alabama. We would have to be extremely lucky to go 2-2 in these four games. 1-3 is more likely.

That leaves us at 8-4 if we're extremely lucky and manage to win all of the first four and two of the last four, 7-5 if we only do one of those, and 6-6 if we don't do either of them.

I just don't see how we can avoid having the UNC game decide whether we finish 7-5 or 6-6.

Some people on this message board are just ridiculous. How can you call yourself a fan when you are constantly bashing the team and the coaches. Stats and preconsumptions dont mean shite. We wont know how good we are till the first game. Have faith and believe in the Tigers and stop hatin or everything they do.

If we take MSU lightly, we could lose. If our guys show up and play hard, we win. But, MSU is improving. I think they will finish third in the SECW this year. I know I will probably get slammed for that, but they have improved significatly since Croom left.

God only knows what you take from anything. Since you changed the scenario, it's obvious you aren't taking much from anything.

How can you call yourself a fan when you support keeping a coach who is destroying our program? A real fan wants what's best for the program, he doesn't worry about pampering the psyche of an incompetent who is ripping off LSU for millions.

North carolina is trash. you can say what you want, this team is terrible. they run a vanilla offense that our defensive speed will shut down. their corners cant keep up with our wide outs.

vandy is vandy. pulled away late from them last year on a wet soggy night, when we missed a lot of chances to pull away earlier.

msu is going to be very good. dan mullen is a great coach. look for their best game.

wvu is probably the must undercoached team i've ever seen. they have talent, but their team is simply terribly coached. only way for them to win this game is a shootout (like arkansas in 07, where 2 rbs beat us, by themselves) which is possible.

tennessee is trash, they have a couple good rbs but their qb wont be able to throw on our secondary. dooley's gonna find out what it's like to come into tigerstadium with an actual school on the jersey, and not la tech.

florida is always tough, urban is great. in gainsville just always makes it that much tougher.

mcneese, ulm, are not even a thought.

auburn is alright, but their young. they made some big recruits but we'll out talent them.

bama takes a step back, they lose a lot on defense. this is about the time nick starts to underachieve like in 02, or worse, 04.

ole miss has no one left, and they've not recruited at all. qb's gone, rb's gone. gonna be tight for a while, but a big win with a late pull away.

arkansas is going to be tough, mallet should be all sec by then, but i think we are by far the best secondary in the sec.

look for a lot of close games, up in the air, like the 07 year. i'm thinkin around 10 and 2 we should finish. 11 and 1 if we're lucky, 9 and 3 if we're unlucky.

But how many other teams can outcoach Miles, even with sub par talent?

It was a game by game commentary. Have we never been to a BCSCG v OSU (Ohio State) and won?

Catch up sparky.

Nice assessment Mike. With only a couple of gimmes this is one of the tougher LSU schedules in recent memory. Looking for a tenth win in the bowl season would be acceptable to me if the offense displays drastic improvement. On the other hand, if my wish for the offense comes to fruition, then winning ten out of 13 games would not be that tough. BTW I do pick 'Bama to repeat as SEC champs, though I hope not to say the least.

same way it usually happens. the loser of the SEC Championship game doesn't go to a BCS game.

If LSU goes 10-2 with a possible SECCG and/or BCS bowl....would it still be in LSU's best interest to fire Les Miles? I mean...since you "shudder" at the thought of Miles getting an extension and all. A simple yes or no will suffice.

It'll depend on how we get there. And what will be "possible" after the season when we're 10-2? We'll either be in the SECCG or not, and after that, in a BCS bowl or not. How do you go 10-2 with a "possible" SECCG or BCS bowl?

Good idea. It's like the Wall Street Journal these days. Even though it's accurate, it's still no fun to read.

Miles is 51-15 in his 5 seasons at LSU.......how is that destroying a program......how many other coaches have had that success in the last 5 years?
LSU Tigers (SEC West) (2005–present)
2005 LSU 11–2 7–1 1st W Chick-fil-A 6 5
2006 LSU 11–2 6–2 2nd W Sugar † 3 3
2007 LSU 12–2 6–2 1st W BCS NCG † 1 1
2008 LSU 8–5 3–5 3rd W Chick-fil-A — —
2009 LSU 9–4 5–3 2nd L Capital One 17 17
LSU: 51–15 27–13

Everyone is always SUCKing on Sabans dick and if you look at the records miles is 3 games better than SABAN.

LSU Tigers (Southeastern Conference) (2000–2004)
2000 LSU 8–4 5–3 3rd (West) W Peach — 22
2001 LSU 10–3 5–3 1st (West) W Sugar † 8 7
2002 LSU 8–5 5–3 T-1st (West)[26] L Cotton — —
2003 LSU 13–1 7–1 1st (West) W Sugar † 1 2
2004 LSU 9–3 6–2 2nd (West) L Capital One 16 16
LSU: 48–16 28–12

Im not saying miles is the best coach of in the world but he has been a winner at LSU......lets see if anyone else could win.....when they lose their starting quarterback and then have to start 2 freshmen......get over it.....LSU will rebound
