That 88 squad was the shite

The 1989 team won the AAAA state title(no 5A then) and had some damn good athletes. To be honest West Monroe's 1989 team was very talented as well. There were 6 players that signed with colleges, which included the 2nd best player to ever come out of WM, Shawn King(nobody ever talks about how talented he was). Remember that was Shows' 1st year at WM and there was only 35 players on varsity that year. IF that team had the PROGRAM that others that followed them had, they would have played Ouachita for the state title. WM led Ouachita 21-20 at the half that year during the season before losing.

Jamie Spencer > banks IMHO

The only thing Spencer had on Banks was speed. He ran soft IMO while Banks would run over anybody like a Mack truck.

just plain wrong... Try and tackle Spencer with those tree trunk legs. Dude was 6'2 245 and ran a 4.45, he was a parade all american and somehow ND screwed him up. He could have been the next Bus at ND

Yeah, Spencer ran pretty hard. I got some old 2-5A videos and he could truck pretty good.

I am not saying he ran like Reggie Bush(soft), but he did not run as hard as Banks. There is a reason he did nothing in college. Notre Dame had some pretty decent talent around him. He never played to his size/speed.

People forget that Carroll, Bastrop, and I believe Wossman were in there as well in the 80s when it was 4A.

Wossman wasn't. They were 3A when they beat Curtis in the dome.
