In your opinion, what does an LSU quarterback need to do to rate above average

How bout throwing for more than 130 yds vs Kentucky? 17 of 35 is pretty average

or 24 of 44 with 3 ints vs a pretty weak Bama squad

Im not trashing the kid. The question was asked and I gave my opinion. I think looking back that team was not as "talented" as many would like to think. That is all

eta: for all the hate JR gets on this site, the 2006 team was a better team, just didn't get the breaks the 07 team got.

Flynn & Mauck were solid QBs that didn’t kill you with mistakes

Because they had the easier odd numbered year schedule AND great players around them. Mauck threw 14 INTs, and Flynn threw 11. Jamarcus was a better QB than Matt Flynn in every way other than scrambling. He threw more TDs, less INTs, more yards, had a higher completition %, and finished with the same amount of losses despite a much tougher schedule, so the 2007 title is more so due to lucky breaks, an easy schedule, and a great offensive coordinator.
