Was Crowton having to repeat them to Jefferson? Was Crowton taking too long to select them? Was Jefferson not identifying and making calls at the LOS quick enough?

More varaiety of Offensive plays needed this year. If we run the option to the short side of the field I will vomit

Agree, but that kind of falls out the spectrum of game management.

Disagree, throwing the ball away or getting rid of it earlier is how you manage the game as a QB.

Doesn't this fall more on the coaching staff? Jefferson just does what he's told. Shouldn't Crowton be calling better plays? Making better adjustment? Amending personnel to get better match ups?

You must have missed where I said it was on BOTH Crowton and Jefferson. In no way shape or form am I trying to say it's all on Jefferson.

quote:

Yes, a first year starter should let our OC know that "check with me" is a stupid way to run an offense.

Not saying that but the QB and the OC should have the best player-coach relationship on the team. Jefferson going to him and telling him what he is and isn't comfortable with is not anything outrageous IMO. Not him telling him to scrap his system completely but just asking to get plays in a little earlier. Now maybe he did and Crowton insisted; again I don't know.

quote:

Uh, no. Typically, we'd break the huddle with about 15 seconds on the play clock and only the formation known by the players. Then, Crowton would look at the defensive set and call the play from the sidelines. Then Jefferson would have to read the defense and make any adjustments at line. It's a cumbersome and ineffective way to run an offense.

Again it's on both of them. And this form of offense works fine for Oklahoma, Florida, Houston, etc.

quote:

See 5th Year QB developed by someone other than Crowton. For an easier reference, see "the trend."

Exactly, Flynn and Crowton only had one offseason to develop their timing and rhythm and it was twice what Jefferson and Crowton's was last year, and Jefferson and Crowton have been together longer than Flynn and Crowton.

Maybe if crowton got the play in sooner

How do you know Crowton didn't get the plays called quickly? Could have been that Les wanted to debate Crowton's calls and that is what lead to the sluggishness in getting lined up.

It may be Miles' fault, may be Crowton's, may be a young QB's. My point is you don't wear the headphones or a helmet, and you don't know what you're talking about. Bottom line is it's Miles'
job to fix it. We'll see if he can in a few weeks. If not, give the next guy his shot.
