Yea, listen to the sabanintes. LSU should always shut out every opponent, double them up, at least, in every stat and do this without having to even play the first string.

Even Les could have gone undefeated with the talent on the '03 team.
nope, he would have lost at least 2 games like he did in 06 & 07 with equally loaded teams. & he probably had better talent on offense in 06 & 07 imo.

Taking all of the Saban versus Miles garbage out of the mix, I enjoyed the 03 season and championship more than the 07 championship mainly due to the fact that it was so unexpected.

LSU stated the season at #15 and was very fortunate throughout the year with the right teams losing at the right times to get to the number 2 spot at the end. It was simply a wonderful ride that kept getting better throughout the season.

The 07 championship was on the heals of the 06 season where arguably, LSU had the best talent in the country and probably should have contended for a MNC. The way the team played down the stretch also diminished the 07 season and championship somewhat for me.

2002 and 2004 were the two most underachieving teams in LSU history.

Not even the 1998 season was as bad as 2002. Having top 5 talent and getting blown out by Virginia Tech, Auburn, Alabama, and Texas is unnacceptable. I don't care what Miles does, he will never do a worse job than Saban did in 2002.

I don't really care much for all the Miles/Saban stuff, but this simply is not true:

"03 Less Impressive Team overall but each performed to their maximum ability."

The AWFUL home loss to a 6-6 (or so) Florida team could not be described as performing to maximum ability. I think the '03 team was better because the D was so dominant, but you could make a strong argument that the 07 team gave the more consistent effort. The 03 got completely shut out on offense (scored a special teams TD) in one game while the 07 team never did anything close to that and although it lost twice, both were in triple-OT.

But 03 was more fortunate because they were healthy all season, except when Addai went down....he was replaced by Justin Vincent, and we all know how he did.
addia & carey both got hurt, i think broussard got banged up a bit too if i'm right.

Giving up 43, 34, and 50 points to an opponent in three different games is "nothing close" to not scoring an offensive touchdown in one game?

Did you even watch the 2007 season?

Mauck on offense was very effective at keeping the D off the field. I am assuming you didn't see much of the 2002 season.

First of all, Mauck played every snap against VT.

Second, the only reason Mauck got hurt is because Saban ran a qb sweep with under two minutes when LSU was up 36-7.

so arguably the most talented team in lsu history losing 2 games in 06 is not underachieving? & after bringing in top classes year after year lsu is 17-9 8-8 is also not underachieving?

We were a pretty damn good team in 2002 pre Mauck injury.

No doubt the D in 07 was not as good as the D in 03; that's why I said I think '03 was the better team. But it is pretty ridiculous to cite the 43 and 50 point tallies - numbers obviously inflated by 3 OT's - when the team actually gave up 27 and 28, respectively in regulation. Not great defense, I agree, but no, I don't think that giving up 27, 34, and 28 comes close to failing to score a single offensive point in a game like the 03 team did. Plus, I was responding to a post about the '03 team always giving a maximum effort. The team in '03 never had a shot to win the Florida game that year, while the '07 team was in every game it played as evidenced by the fact that it did not lose a game in regulation play.

1st game of the season for LSU. 2nd game for Va Tech. Makes a HUGE difference.

I agree with this. Sabans fault 100%.
